dents in lehigh the lehigh circle of omicron delta kappa was entertained at the kappa alpha lodge last friday at which time r a harrier succeeded to the presi dency vacated by miles the report of ridsdale dele gate to the national convention was heard with interest he reported much discussion on the question of extending omi cron delta kappa to other col leges in the north selected college leaders from lafayette and rutgers are to be enter tained at lehigh at the next meeting of omicron delta kap pa at which time definite plans will be laid for the establish ment of circles at those col leges the burden of this task falls upon the lehigh circle because during the past year it was the most active in the en tire national organization the lehigh body will also be instru mental in the establishment of circles at swarthmore univer sity of pennsylvania williams and wesleyan some time was devoted to a discussion of the possibility of restoring the honor system at lehigh dr richards expressed himself as being thoroughly in accord with the idea and soon plans will be laid and a definite program established for the re storation continued on page four temporarily the idea of a change in the rushing system has been dropped in anticipa tion of conditions which it is lehigh's wrestling team will journey to annapolis tomor row to face the naval academy matmen this is the last meet prior to the intercollegiate com petition at the university of pennsylvania the midshipmen boast of a strong team having been de feated but twice this year one of these defeats being at the hands of perm state last week incidentally yale was among the many victims who were compelled to acknowledge the superiority of the future ad mirals the lehigh grapplers have not been able to score a victory over the naval acad emy in three years and a de feat at the hands of the brown and white matmen would bring no small amount of pleasure to lehigh continued on page four navy is exceptionally good in the heavier classes and hopes as a result to overcome any lead the bethlehem light weights might be able to obtain in the lighter weights coach sheridan as before is pinning his hopes on the invincible mc govern-reed-heilman trio the best bout of the meet will prob ably occur in the 135-lb class between crittendon and heil man it will be remembered that crittendon in the annual meet last year succeeded in throwing lewis the runner-up of the 1926 intercollegiate com next saturday night at eight o'clock in taylor gymnasium lehigh will meet lafayette in basketball for the third time this winter the game will be more or less of a consolation final for lafayette as the brown and white has already won two of the three games by scores which leave little doubt as to the result of the forth coming contest in the last game lafayette was held vir tually powerless by a lehigh team that has grown steadily better throughout the season the line-up for lehigh will be the same as that which play ed against the eastonites last week although coach geary will probably use all of the men in the game to whom he desires to give letters the lafayette line-up will also remain the same with leisenring and chi menti as forwards atkinson at center and mcguire and grube at the guard positions this is the next to the last home game for lehigh juniata being the other home opponent the last game will be played away at swarthmore judging by comparative scores it looks as though the brown and white will go through the remainder of the season undefeated the guarding of billmeyer and ber man in the last few contests has been almost impregnable and this with the kind of shoot ing that smith billmeyer and schaub have been displaying will make a team worthy of any opponent lehigh's fast traveling bas ketball team journeyed to hav erford on tuesday where it swamped the quintet of that college 39-13 this victory gives lehigh 4 straight all of them by large scores through out the entire game lehigh's superiority was clearly evi dent but it was especially so during the second half in which haverford did not score a field goal and only five fouls the first half was rather ragged with lehigh missing many shots for the basket af ter very fast but sometimes rather erratic passing after being defeated by princeton last saturday by the narrow margin of four points haver ford came into the game show ing great confidence but soon had its hopes dimmed when lehigh rushed into an early lead the first half ended with the score 17 to 8 in favor of lehigh after the rest between halves the lehigh team seem ed even stronger and started the fireworks immediately clean snappy passing clever handling of the ball and ex cellent shooting rapidly increas ed the score lehigh's guards were invincible in this half not allowing a single field goal e schaub contributed many thrills to the spectators by sinking five beautiful long shots none pf which touched the rim oth erwise the scoring was well of stars yearlings primed to put up stiff battle after re cent defeat football wizards of other days give brown and white glorious record the regular monthly meeting of the interfraternity council was held on monday night in drown hall n r castor was elected the new secretary of the council and chairman of the social committee to which j m holmes was also appointed mccord reported a lack of in terest in the interfraternity sports and urged all the houses to show more interest and to report the results of all games as soon as possible after the event a great deal of discussion about house party date en sued april 30 was the time set a petition is being presented to the faculty to allow a three day house party beginning thursday afternoon it seems quite likely that this house par ty will be featured by the granting of a free saturday morning so that the friday dance will be able to continue until a later hour than usual according to the reports of the representatives of the houses this house party should be an unusually successful one more houses are planning to give dances on saturday night when there is no college dance fri day night with the junior prom will be the big evening if the petition for a three-day party is granted the sopho more cotillion will be held on thursday in addition several houses will give tea dances thursday and friday after noons and there will certainly be a big tea dance saturday af ternoon the athletic program for saturday comprises a base ball game with dickinson and a lacrosse game with rutgers in connection with house party the social committee of the ar cadia recommended that the dances be sponsored by the in terfraternity council with the object of obtaining orchestras on time and of lowering the subscription prices another step toward the pro duction of the annual mustard and cheese show was taken when it was announced that both the book and the music had been written and would be sent to ned wayburn this week paul ketterer and jack mckinnon went off the beaten track of musical comedy plots by developing the action of the play in a western ranch set ting the music for the pro iduction this year was originat ted who together with bob white is in charge of all work on the music and lyrics the music is of an exceptional quality comparing favorably with that in the best musical comedies in addition to the fact that candidates for the position of business manager are busy col lecting advertisements for the program a call has been issued for all persons desiring to en ter the competition for stage manager carpenters electri cians and painters will be pick ed in this competition in which members of any class are eli gible the book and lyrics will be returned by mr wayburn within a very short time and serious work on the play both in the cast and chorus will be started a call will be made for candidates for the cast in the near future and try-outs will be held in the presence of mr wayburn himself the itinerary of five engagements possibly six has already been mapped out and this schedule should prove such an allurement to candidates for the cast that very little trouble should be ex on a trip to inspect the en gineering laboratories of the leading engineering colleges of the middle west during their visits they will gather ideas and information which will be used in designing the new packard laboratory they will return from this inspection next sat urday on monday february 28 they inspected the buildings at cornell tuesday march 1 they arrived at detroit where they visited the packard motor car company during the after noon and attended a meeting of the lehigh club in the eve ning on wednesday they went to ann harbor to inspect the uni versity of michigan and thurs day they arrived at chicago professors esty and seyfert and architect burlington left chicago for minneapolis while the rest of the party remained in the city and attended a meet continued on page three
