and science it was not long until jimmy showed his athletic ware and this coupled with a magnetic having contested honors with the navy last wednesday lehigh's basketball team will show no favorites so will meet the other branch of the service tomorrow at west point so far this season army has played five games and lost two on the surface her record is a better one than that of which lehigh boasts the only com parison which would give any indication of the relative strength of the two teams is in the scores which each obtained against fordham lehigh lost her game 31-27 to the new yorkers who also beat the ar my but with a twelve point margin it appears that lehigh has a slight edge over the west pointers although the present condition of the service quintet is unknown remembering last season's defeat lehigh should fight stubbornly the arcadia held its regular meeting in the arcadia room at drown hall last monday evening a general discussion on the feasibility of renewing the honor system was held and the consensus of opinion was that it would be most beneficial fe do so but that it would be wise to wait until the under graduates could be educated up to the system the meeting was very brief and the only other question of importance which was discuss ed was the most satisfactory date for a dance to be run by the arcadia soon after the conclusion of the mid-year ex aminations it was also rec ommended that the president of the student body send a let ter of appreciation to james ward packard for his gift of 1,000,000 to be used in erect ing the james ward packard laboratory frosh mermen to swim at blair deutscher verein hears mr kegel yearlings will encounter ex perienced swimmers at new jersey academy instructor in the german de partment tells of ballad development when lehigh and the naval academy met on the basketball court at annapolis wednesday afternoon the result was as anticipated the midshipmen who are striving to emulate the performances of their unde feated football team added the brown and white quintet to their imposing list of victims which now totals nine and whch includes perm columbia and the university of mary land lehigh's record now con sists of four successive defeats although each of the four op ponents princeton fordham perm and navy is represented by a very strong team the score of this latest encounter was 41-28 the margin of de feat being the greatest of the season continued on patfe four the brown and white adher ents have one redeeming thought namely that theirs is the first team which has been able to repulse the attack of the navy's shock troops for the first time this season when the blue and gold regulars en tered the fray after the first ten minutes of play they had a small handicap to overcome but the admirals proved them selves equal to the task by flashing a brilliant offensive the only varsity sport to take place at home this week end will be the swimming meet with lafayette to be held in taylor 00l at 2:30 p m both teams have had one meet each so far this season and the brown and white is favored to run up a winning score in light of the score which they made against navy last week us compared with the maroon's score against its opponent coach harmon has taken ov er the work left by former coach gulick and has whipped the veteran team into line as well as the newcomers this year the diving end of the sport has been taken care of by the divers themselves and in all probability hobbs and hayes will compete in the meet to iinorrow for lafayette biles will again take the board in which the frosh have engaged judging from the evident superiority which they displayed in trimming the muhlenberg freshmen the 30 men should undoubtedly be on equal terms with their next opponents the visitors will be one of the strongest teams which the homesters are scheduled to en counter this year among their players are several all-state basketball captains hailing from new jersey an excel frosh placed first in the relay div ing and 220 yard swim the diving won the meet for the south mountaineers the rest of the events being close all the way through however this meet means nothing the real strength of the freshmen will be revealed when they are pitted against blair blair academy always turns out good teams and this year is exceptionally strong it ought to be a very closely con tested match henceforth lehigh athletes will be subject to close watch on the part of a faculty com mittee appointed by the ath letic board of control when it met last monday evening in a special meeting the purpose of the meeting was to adopt a plan which would aid athletes in maintaining their scholastic rating while giving a great vol ume of time to sports the suggestion of using a faculty the place of the regular college lecture yesterday was of special inter est not only for its literary value but for the historical ac curacy of the whole film this picture first produced in italy in 1915 was made in rome and on a scale fully as large as the modern major pro ductions the part of caesar is most ably played by novelli the great italian actor now dead it was obtained from the george kleine film foundation of new york which has a lib rary of moving pictures of rec ognized intellectual and educa tional value all the salient points of cae sar's great career have been faithfully reproduced and a nice selection has been made of the numberless colorful epi sodes which go to make up his life his early political strug gles the triumvirate the gal lic war the civil war against pompey culminating in the great battle of pharsalia and his dramatic assassination in the senate are all portrayed in the film in no other way per haps has the stirring tale of ithe life of this great roman been so well told speaking last wednesday evening before the science re search club of which he had just been made a member dr percy hughes outlined some of the basic concepts of psych ology which are now being taught to junior students tak ing an elementary course in the subject dr hughes showed how wide a field psychology covers claim ing that psychology itself is anything that a psychologist wishes to investigate he em phasized the detail with which the science is pursued every condition with all its accom pany reactions is a subject to be exhausted by the psycholo gist the functioning unity of the individual is an object of study for the psychologist dr hughes pointed out that just as an oak has a life-career which interests the biologist so every individual has a life career equally interesting to the psychologist he stressed the fact that only in a life movement and a life-history is the functioning unity of an in dividual observed the term psyche means this
