special train the drawing for dormitory rooms has been changed from may 13 to 17 this is due to tomorrow's games all men who now live in town and who desire rooms should meet in drown hall at 1 o'clock next wednesday afternoon the method of drawing will be the same as in previous years in the order of classes the men not now in the j dormitories in each case follow | their classmates who are in the dorms in the choice of rooms up to this time the plans for the 1916 class day have not been com pleted however the class cup has been purchased and the stationery and the chapel tablet have been ordered also plans are being for mulated to hold the exercises on dr drinker's lawn notice the y m c a handbook com mittee is now at work preparing the handbook for next year any one who has any information regarding the matter will please give it to h r merwarth the chairman of the committee as soon as possible continued on fifth page the date saturday may 13 tin place march field lafay ette college easton pa what's going to happen those ancient rivals lafayette and lehigh will meet each other on the diamond in the first of a series of three games to decide who is the most worthy opponent from the present indications the game should be a corker as both teams appear evenly matched lafayette got off to a bad start but of late the easton aggregation has been playing a sterling game of ball lafayette has played more games than the lehigh team hav ing played fourteen games w t hile lehigh has only met twelve nines lafayette has won eight games and lost six an average of 571 le high has won nine games and lost three an average of 750 in hit ting and fielding lehigh also excels her opponent lafayette has scored 46 runs and collected 79 hits in fourteen games lehigh has scored 87 runs and piled up 127 hits in twelve games this gives the brown and white combination an average of 1 runs and 10 7-12 hits per game while the maroon and white team has an average of 3 2-7 runs and 5 9-14 hits per game the offense of lehigh therefore seems on paper to be nearly twice as strong as the lafayette offense but you never can tell the dop ester of ten has his dope upset in the field lehigh also appears to have a slight advantage the comparison of strengths of both teams gives lehigh slight advantage the 1917 epitome should appear on the campus near the end of i this month the book will present man innovations as a large num ber of changes have been made in : it the board has endeavored to make volume forty-one something better and more interesting than a statistical abstract this is a de parture from the more recent volumes though the earlier vol umes tended to be more of a narra tive eighty per cent of the book has gone to press and barring further delay it should appear on the 25th i due to the situation in the metal industries the plans of the board were disturbed thus holding up the publication for several weeks however there will be an epitome this year which will compare favor ably with its predecessors the board is deeply indebted to the members of the student-body who willingly co-operated supply ing a large number of snap shots thus the campus views and photos of student activities is more promi nent in this year's book than here tofore the sections of the book have j been shaken up to a certain degree ! the senior class book this year j became a more distinct section of the book there are then six books instead of five as in previous years | the editors refuse to disclose the ! outstanding features which are marked departures from previous j publications nothing will f orce j them to give out inside dope on the nature of the changes they are ready for the test which means subjecting themselves to the most scorching criticism and ! severest knocks yesterday afternoon the second rehearsal of the tableaux to be given for the shakespearean 1 pageant was held in the forum room of sancon hall the presence n f the complete cast made it pos sible to run through an excellent rehearsal of the play exactly as it will take place on the afternoon of ! may 19 the general rehearsal to have been held on monday afternoon i may 15 has been split in half so that the second half of the pageant will hold their rehearsal on tues day afternoon may 16 the le high group comes in the second | half and will therefore report | promptly at 4 o'clock in the stadium on next tuesday the assignment of parts has been completed by the committee as follows king henry viii prof c k meschter ; assistant manager a e buchanan 18 costumer r a cohn 18 musical director l program of rehearsals the brown and white lacrosse j team easily defeated the university of pennsylvania twelve last wed nesday on taylor field by a score of 8-2 the score does not indicate how handily the home team won as the contest was loosely played after the first ten minutes of the first half with all due credit to the lehigh players it must be said that pennsylvania showed a great lack of team play and condition the ball was kept in the visitors terri tory during forty-five minutes of play although the pennsylvania team was outclassed keppler and seaver starred on the attack whileßaldwin and ennis bore the burden of the defense sexton snyder and bar clay proved to be the best in the scoring line for lehigh green and kennedy holding up the defense the game after the whistle blew lehigh took the ball to the perm goal and by a series of long passes sexton i found an opening registering the first goal on a twenty-yard shot time 2 minutes and 47 seconds again the ball was taken to the visitors goal and on a short pass from green barclay tallied the sec ond goal on an easy shot time 4 41 the ball then went to lehigh territory for the first time during the contest but zollinger inter cepted a pass and gave the ball to sexton who scored twenty-five yardfe from the goal time 6:44 pennsylvania up to this time had been completely outclassed af ter the next centering of the ball perm took a brace and worked the ball up to the lehigh goal bur gunder missed two easy shots wal ther recovering and on a series of short passes snyder took the ball past russel and baldwin making a short shot which goalkeeper car roll failed to see time 9 8 the blue and red made a stand which had the lehigh defense guessing for a few minutes and on a short pass from seaver keppler scored on a short shot time 19 44 ku gle was substituted for russel two minutes later on a long pass across the field from sexton wait easily scored time 21 minutes and 33 seconds during the remainder of the half lehigh kept bombarding the perm goal without success score at half time lehigh 5 perm 1 second half the whistle had hardly ceased blowing when sexton carried the ball up to the perm territory scor ing his third goal time 45 sec onds lehigh again carried the ball to perm's territory barclay registering a ten-yard shot on a pass from wait time 1 minute and 58 seconds the game then changed to an old fashion rough house kennedy being penalized two minutes tate stopped a hard shot from seaver s stick the ball being carried to the center of the field where it remained for the next five minutes page was substituted for oppenheimer smith for sea ver and mentley for ennis these fresh men seemed to put a snap to continued on fourth page the brown and white lehigh university bethlehem pa friday may 12 1916 no 56 mustard and cheese elects officers lehigh clinches lacrosse title vol xxiii henry viii being rehearsed epitome will appear during this month lafayette series opens tomorrow enn loses on taylor field by score of bto 2 south ern title won show at meeting on wednesday club decides to hold june assignment of parts in tableaux annouced by prof c k meschter baseball team plays down river rivals on march 1917 year=book will be on sale about may 25 some new features lehigh favorite j luckenbach 17 ; assistant | stage manager p l hallowell | 18 property man a de sa 18 i professor palmer and mr emery were re-elected to the positions of faculty advicors he men who participated in this year's production were unanimous ly elected to membership the members who have taken part in two shows will be awarded the club pin and by special provision those seniors who took part in this year's performance will also be entitled to the official pin the question of a june perform ance for this year was discussed it had been decided to eliminate this repetition as it has always proved a financial failure so many re quests have been madia however that it was thought advisable by both faculty advisors and student members to repeat the show for the benefit of the large number of alumni that are expected this year for commencement week it was therefore definitely decided to re peat the fascinating avidbw at that time the actual date being still a little uncertain several other points were dis cussed among which was the mat ter of a club picture the picture will be taken wednesday after noon may 17 at one o'clock it is desired to have every member of the club meet at the chapel at that time to get in the photograph c e society sophomores notice stadium nears completion pay your class dues 3 e e el met met students pay to a de sa biol geol b s math students pay to j plait m e chem students pay to e 11 covell e m students pay to m e johnson ch e students pay to w 11 maccallum c e students pay to h s hut chinson business students pay to j c moench b a students pay to e s lam bert treasurer the work on the new sections of the stadium has progressed rapid ly and gives indication that it will ibe ready for use in june the high gravity concrete distributor will be taken down at the end of this week and the remaining con crete will be carried by wheelbar row from a mixer installed on the hillside above the field considerable earth has been re moved to make way for the new stands and the work has necessi tatedl considerable disorder at the east end of the field however the | baseball diamond has been fenced i off and kept in good condition so that as soon as the work has reached a stage of completeness ad ;
