production which reflects credit upon lehigh univer sity has just been placed upon the book market and the author or correctly the editor is this time i '■.. a roush a 8 m s assistant professor in the department of metallurgy of the university pro fessor roush is assistant secretary of the american electrochemical society and has recently accepted the editorship of the mineral in dustry of which the present vol ume is the first production under his direction the title of the work is the mineral industry during 1913 and constitutes the twenty second volume of a series of annual issues extending from 1892 to the present year in 1892 the first volume of the mineral industry was published by a member of the lehigh university faculty richard r rothwell who as is known was the first professor of alining engineering at lehigh since that year the mining in dustry has appeared annually with increasing value and importance un til now it is considered as a stand ard authority on the progress of the year in mining and technology sources of supply statistics of pro duction markets and commercial possibilities the work for 1913 was started by professor roush in january from which time official statistics statements circulars and pamph lets were obtained from all over the world eminent authorities were called upon to produce from amongst this data an article on their specialty and in all cases but one the requests were granted one remarkable feature about the book is the large number of notable spe cialists in the list of contributors men who are prominent in their special branches of industry and the best capable of digesting their par ticular subject the articles were commendably arranged and compiled by profes sor roush who however added a considerable amount of original work the whole is bound togeth er in a 6 x 9 cloth-bound volume of 1000 pages the publishers being the mcgraw-hill book company inc at 239 west 39th street new york city the price per volume is 10 net and will be sent post aid to anyone desiring a copy the outlay of the articles places each particular subject by itself and the arrangement of all are essential ly the same the divisions following each other systematically in their degrees of importance of prime interest is the fact that lehigh has been exceptionally well represented among the contributors some excellent work having been done the following list gives the contributors from the faculty : continued on third page professor j w richards head of the metallurgy department and one of the best authorities on alu both the are twombley connell vonm~eng erinighousen b wrighit good and capt han way track meeting cost of the stadium sections in our issue of september 22 in speaking of the cost of the stadium sections we used the only figure that had previously been published when the work was laid out last summer it was proposed to make the sections running north and south on the west side of the sta dium smaller than those on the south as the gymnasium con struction progressed it became very evident that architecturally the west face of the stadium should be built to on form to the face of the gym nasi'im and the plans were there fore altered and the west sections made larger and higher so that their cost will not be less than those on the south estimated at 3200 and probably higher who's who and why at lehigh a carefully compiled list of the men leading affairs this year save for reference list is arranged for conveni ence of the old men and the new did you ever want to join your course society or any other club or organization in the university and did not know who was at the head of it or even if you did happen to know you could not discover after making many inquiries just where to reach him
