many collections of rare and valuable books contained in library facts about the library 134,530 volumes coaches to speak interlibrary loan system of great value to student body in literary work hustling committee has arranged excellent program p-rade follows brown and white eleven will line up against a team which will make hardest fight of the season statistics of the players tom keady lehigh will have hardest game of the season to-morrow but will win rain or shine h r reiter lehigh will win by a small score barring flukes on both sides drop kicker which ought to give the advantage to lehigh in a close con test 5 from the standpoint of expe rience in the line and backfield and weight in the forwards the advan tage should rest with lehigh the physical condition of the men with the exception of a few bruises is exceptionally good after a hard schedule the coaches do not un derstand lafayette's ability and an ticipate the hardest struggle of the season and if lehigh is able to win by one to-uchdown the coaching force will be perfectly satisfied coach keady : — team in best condition this year prepared for the hardest game this season every man will be at his top-notch form for saturday's game coaches and team expect to win but realize it will only be after a bitter struggle the scores of the games which the two teams have played this sea son are as follows : — lafayette lafayette op delaware 41 0 ur sinus 7 0 u of p 0 0 princeton 0 16 villanova 14 3 perm state 0 17 muhlenberg 24 3 albright 42 6 128 52 lehigh lehigh op f and m 12 0 indians 21 6 yale 3 20 carnegie 24 20 muhlenberg 27 0 johns hopkins ... 33 0 perm state 20 7 villanova 10 0 150 53 lafayette scores the last biggest and best smoker of the year will be held in taylor gymnasium to-night at 7.30 o'clock on the eve of the great lafayette football game needless to say the purpose of this smoker is to instill the old pep or the old gyp as tom keady would say in the student body which if properly applied is half the battle it is the students part in preparation for that great annual event the football game with our most worthy rival lafayette it is this game that brings out the real lehigh spirit and the smoker is merely the means of getting that spirit to the proper pitch to be let loose the next day the hustling committee has spared no pains in putting out the best program possible and has done everything in its power to make it a success throughout too much credit cannot be given to this com mittee for their work this year an exceedingly interesting line of speakers have been engaged the brown and white has made arrangements with the agent of the patterson tobacco company to furnish free the smoking imple ments each man will be given a good pipe some tuxedo tobapeo and there will be on hand bull dur ham and riz la papers for those who roll em dr drinker can be counted on to give an interesting talk as usual bosey with his flowery language will be on the job as well as resi dent coach tom keady pat pazzetti lehigh's all american quarterback and sam strauss to gether with the other members of the coaching staff will have some thing to add the alumni will be well represented in person by andy okeson the old football star ; pat reily and col long 89 the ev er ready bob macnamarra will speak for the townspeople to be mixed in with these speeches the band will show that they are pres ent bodine's quartet will also help the musical end along a wrestling bout featuring billy sheridan the wrestling coach or a boxing match a la cassidy will be added attrac tions the smoker could hardly be complete without the customary boxing bouts the committee also has several surprise features in store the usual pee-rade with the red lights torches and banners march ed to the tune of hail hail the gang's all here only on a larger scale will follow the smoker the line of march will be as follows locust to 4th street down birch to 3rd street up 3rd to new to 4th up 4th to wyandotte to five points five points via broadway to 4th to new st via new to broad street bethlehem broad to main down main to fern sem and home everybody out and make this last smoker of the season one to be re membered be in the game room of the gymnasium at 7.30 o'clock to-night don't miss it to-morrow on march field eas ton the annual football struggle be tween lehigh and lafayette will a gain be fought judging from ticket sales one of the largest throngs that ever entered march field will wit ness the game both teams according to the coaches are in fine physical condi tion and the contest should be a close one lafayette however has a team the greater part of which is new material as quite a few of the varsity men have typhoid fever on this hospital list are included : kelly j.desmond p.taylor coch ran g brown and j kennedy backfield men ; and gulick a lines man lafayette suffers a great loss in the absence of these men but coach crowell has well filled their positions according to reports from the lafayette camp lehigh certainly enters the con test wrfeh an advantage over lafay ette as comparative scores show also the spirit and pep which the team has put into the practices the last few days is indicative of a fight to the finish contest on their part to-morrow with the excep tion of a few minor bruises the team is in excellent condition and should go on the field with every varsity man ready for action what the coaches say prof reiter : — lehigh ought to win by a small margin the game won't be as easy as the public opinion has fig ured it out barring flukes le high should win because 1 from a comparison lehigh has made a better record against teams which both teams have played ; con sequently lehigh's morale is better 2 lehigh's offense has # been shown to be stronger this is also figured out from a comparative view-point 3 lehigh's defense has been shown to be somewhat superior to that of lafayette 4 lehigh possesses a superior the scores of the lafayette-le high games from 1884 to 1913 in clusive show twenty-six victories for lafayette nineteen for lehigh and two tie games the scores fol low : — the officials of the game will be marshall haverford referee mc carty germantown umpire thorpe columbia head linesman ;
