mor rissey is entered in the sprints carl son and hamvay in the quarter mile and mcgrath in the mile if anything can be judged by the previous performances of these men lehigh's representatives can be expected to make an exception ally good showing the track schedule for the year follows : — saturday may 1st — bucknell home saturday may 8th — pemn state away wednesday may 12th — stevens home saturday may 15th — intercolle giates away wednesday may 19th — lafay ette home c e society meet saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock the lehigh wrestling team meets the wrestlers representative of brown university after meets with such teams as those of cor nell and the naval academy the meet on saturday should not prove too difficult while the brown university mat men are not included in the inter collegiate league they are never theless a strong aggregation and possess a superior knowledge of the sport wrestling has been one of the main forms of athletics at brown for the past four years although lehigh will be slightly handicapped in this event by the absence of several varsity men she has however more than an even chance to win wills 15 in a try-out on wednesday threw mc cullough and placed in this meet kirkhuff and martin of the 115-lb and 125-lb classes are being rested for the intercollegiates of march 26th and 27th y while pons is suffer ing from a strained knee sustained in practice the team will consist of : — 1 1 5-lb class — reynolds 125-lb class — lambert 135-lb class wills 145-lb class — thomas 158-lh class — capt sawtelle 175-lb class — good heavy-weight class — fleming tennis the senior banquet will be held this evening at 8.30 at the colum bia hotel tenth and hamilton sts allentown this will be the last get together of its kind of the class of 1915 and will doubtless be attended by every senior the committee in charge has ar ranged for a most enjoyable occa sion 1 . members of the class who will speak are search hoban kaung and daley invited guests who will respond to toasts are vice-presidenit emery professors thornburg and reiter and mr beck this list of speakers is very promising and together with the special musical programme a gen eral good time is assured arrangements have been made for cars returning to south beth lehem after the banquet regardless oi the time it is over no special arrangements have been made for going up but there should be no trouble from that quarter as there are a number of cars and trains at that time this is the first class banquet to be held outside the bethlehems for a number of years but the experi ment should prove a decided suc cess every senior is expected to be present and it will be the most enjoyable banquet ever held by the class an important meeting of the civil engineering society will be held in drown 1 hall on monday evening march 15th at 7.45 o'clock every member of the society of every class is strongly urged to be present for announcements concerning the april meeting will be made at that time the meeting will be a special transit meet the papers to be read dealing especially with transit problems leslie allen 16 will read a paper on the influence on real estate values of the exten sion of urban and inter-ljrbarr trolley lines a c eberhard 16 will read a paper on diminu tion of accident rate on electric railway lines during the last decade and w a cannon 16 will read a paper on the develop ment and improvement of electric railway equipment after regu lar business meeting tempting eats will be served in coppee hall prof r j fogg of the civil en gineering department will give an illustrated lecture at the april meet ing nominations for the 1916 so ciety officers will also take place rifle club y m c a announcement spring is on its way and tom keady has arrived the combina tion of these two means that there is hard work storing up for the baseball squad coach keady ex pressed his opinion that from the present outlook of things lehigh will be able to put into the diamond a better team than last year that means a whole lot — that we can take three straight from lafayette instead of two out of three there has been no regular call for candidates so far but there have been several sets of batteries in the cage practicing up to this time lees mitman and swallow are trying-out for catcher ; that lehigh was founded engineers were then 1 below the stanh dard set by classical schools this condition no longer exists if engineers retained the idea that they were toughs they showed how they could kick and kick hard the engineer has arisen to a much higher planie in educational esteem if engineers will be morally and spiritually sound honest men they will continue to rise in public opin ion still higher following another selection by the glee club mr roy a thomas coach of the university of penn sylvania baseball team and former player on the philadelphia nationi als was then introduced in re counting his remembrances of le high in former days mr thomas said : there was a time when i journeyed to lehigh and heard your yells as they re-echoed be tween the frills they appealed to me as the snappiest yells ever this meeting brings back to me my for mer relations with lehigh on the baseball diamond church people do not advertise their religion they make no effort to show in a positive way their as sociation with the church they are in a sense negative christians people go out into life to make a fortune to follow a profession or to put in their time filling social engagements and looking after their own pleasure no amusement nor recreation should interfere with our lives which is — the saving of our souls continued on second page we should be willing to under go some self-sacrifice mr thom as them related the incident of two boys in which the self-sacrifice was clearly defined we do not hesi tate to worship the acts of these boys he continued but what about the christ who died upon the cross taking your place and mine is there not more cause for wor shipping him ?
