seven fraternities and one sec tion of the dormitories to give house parties score 7 to 3 lehigh gains lead in the first inning which visitors never overcome brown and white to compete in medley and four-man one mile relay races the university of pennsylvania relay races to be held to-day and to-morrow will bring together the largest number of schools and col leges that have ever entered any meet in the history of interscholas tic and intercollegiate sport over 325 teams have entered to date of which more than 80 are college teams in one respect this meet outranks all other meets held in the united states annually it is the most rep resentative one that is held col leges representing practically all the different sections of the united states have sent in their entries the university of southern cali fornia will represent the pacific slope the middle west will be represented by practically all of their large colleges including chi cago michigan wisconsin illinois kansas and others the east will be very generously represented all of the larger colleges and many of the smaller ones have entered continued on third page the special feature of the meet will be the pentathlon event which will be held to-day this event conh sists of five contests and the athlete making the best score in the five will win and will have the honor of becoming the all round college lehigh will play her first game of the season in the intercollegiate la crosse league when she meets the swarthmore team this saturday af ternoon on taylor field this is a game which aside from the strength of the two teams contest ing will be interesting from the fact that its outcome will partially de termine the proposed trip of 1915 intercollegiate champions to the panama pacific exposition ist attack jay out home h h mayers in-home kirbv to date lehigh has not lost a game tieing the strong cornell twelve and winning from both ste vens and state by large scores which gives the brown and white bright prospects nevertheless swarthmore always carries a healthy aggregation which can be vouched for by their defeat of perm last week thereby winning a step in the league as perm is a new com er mi the southern division this year lehigh has defeated swarth more the last two years and should repeat again from all indications from the respective camps how ever am interesting game well play ed and closely contested throughout should be witnessed by the junior week guests and friends the line-up for lehigh will be goal leonard point hiss cover point scruggs ist defense green 2nd defense desmond 3rd defense jenness center zollin'ger 3rd attack w c mayer 2nd attack capt buck lehigh had little difficulty in de feating the washington and jeffer son nine on wednesday afternoon by a score of 7 to 3 from the first inning when four of the runs were scored lehigh was ahead of the visitors these first four runs were due mainly to the loose play ing and errors of the opposing team washington and jefferson made one run in the first inning and two in the second but were blanked for the rest of the game lehigh did not score again until the fourth in nrirug when achorn brought in a run on twombley's single in the fifth inning stobbs and yonkins scored a double play catching fishbum 1 on second and lees on first anderson struck three men out in this inning and two more in the sixth the last out in the sixth inning was made by twombley in a spectacular one handed catch at first albrecht the first man up for lehigh in the sixth hit the ball in to th c center field bleachers amd scored a home run albrecht and twombley played an excellent game for lehigh while mccreight and moser starred for anderson passed two men in the seventh inning but the visitors did not score lehigh's run in 1 this ki ning was made by fishburn who reached first on a single to the third baseman who overthrew to first al lowing fishburn to make second sanford the next man up hit out to the center-fielder who dropped the ball and fishburn scored this was the last run of the game the washington and jefferson baseball team is about evenly bal anced between veterans of last year and new men who have made the team for the first time this season all of the players in the lime-up be low are members of washington and jefferson's record-breaking football team of last year with the exception of leydic and artman continued on fourth page mustard and cheese shows house parties are being held dur ing junior week at seven of the fraternities and in section a of the taylor flail dormitories the following are the guests : dormitories chaperons mrs w j sheckells baltimore md ;
