streak securing ten hits the elections to the offices for the senior year in the class of 1915 re sulted as follows : president h a brown ; vice president h m search secre tary c hoffmann ; treasurer a j wiegand ; athletic representa tive f w green ; historian w n fisher sergeant-at-arms j m bausman with the winning of the stevens game on saturday may 16th le high closed the most successful la crosse season she has ever had not only have there been more games won but the intercollegiate championship has been added to junior officers the lehigh tennis team on wed nesday afternoon met with little difficulty in defeating gettysburg 5 to 1 results in the singles : turnbull lehigh defeated r hoffman gettysburg 6-1 6-2 powers lehigh defeated swartz gettysburg 6-3 7-5 c hoffman lehigh defeated keeney gettysburg 6-2 6-4 gnffen lehigh defeated noren gettysburg 6-3 6-3 in the doubles : turnbull and powers lehigh de feated r hoffman and swartz gettysburg 6 - 0 6 - 4 defeated c hoffman and beard lehigh 8-6 7-9 7-5 saturday the last match of the season will be played with lafay ette on the latter's courts bach music festival at a meeting of the class of 1916 last wednesday afternoon the fol lowing nominations were made junior officers -- president benson thorp mudge grumbach neyer wynne vice-president baush clare hoopes white sec retary konselman tall wood greer sexton brewster treasu rer matthews kirkhuff wells powers historian : forstall hoo pes kresge martin shay athletic representative cahall h carlson scruggs thomas epitome board — kresge keiser kalpin clement wood wylie clare gunn ziefle g johnson johnston fair mudge hummel schuttler thorp moyer tall and knox eight are to be elected by the class from the above list the board elects its own officers the competition for business managers of the annual conducted by the present junior class board was won by shields and andrews the ballot box will be open tuesday in drown hall from 9 a m to 4.00 p m balloting for those offices in which no one man receives a ma jority vote on tuesday will be run on wednesday at a class meeting at r 1.30 all class dues must be paid to be eligible to vote or hold office sophomore officers to-morrow the baseball team plays lafayette in the second game of the annual series like the first game this will be played on march field easton and every lehigh man should go down to support the team although the first game was a defeat for lehigh it left lafay ette much more discouraged than the brown and white men for gi rard whom they had confidently expected to twirl shutout ball was hit at will and had to be replaced g brown the second pitcher in the few innings that he worked showed that he could never last a full game without the lehigh men solving his delivery hammer is the only pitch er of ability left for them to start the game with and he has not been able to get in condition as yet coach keady will start anderson again and with confidence gained from last saturday's game when he held the down-river sluggers to four hits he should pull out a vic tory the men fared best last sat urday in the department of the game that it was thought they would be weakest — that of hitting there has been a lot of talk around college concerning the many incidents of last week's game this talk has been for the most part bas ed on hearsay or a lack of real knowledge of the game of baseball in some cases both and it is amus ing what is a base-runner to do if the infielders get in the base-paths deliberately or through not know ing how to tag a man properly are they to step up and be put out turn their ankles or perhaps get a leg broken once at first base the base-paths are for the base runners and if as in last satur day's game the opposing basemen do not know how to take a throw properly and put the ball on the man it is up to them to watch out to-morrow's game will start at 3 o'clock a train leaves south beth lehem on the lehigh valley at 2.05 fare thirty cents one way trol leys leave on the hour in bethlehem and on the half hour in south beth lehem lehigh defeated dickinson col lege in baseball last wednesday af ternoon on the local diamond by the score of 8 to 3 the game was a free-hitting one in which the lehigh men hit harder and fielded better dickinson started the first inning with two runs scored on hits and it was not until the fourth that lehigh tallied brennerman was taken out in the seventh potter moving over to the box from first base steckle and rowley played well for dickin son and fishburn and bell for built in the chancel of the chapel to accommodate the 200 chorus members it has been con structed with a very large factor of safety so as to avoid any possible accident there is an innovation this year in the grouping of the chorus and orchestra the singers are moved back a distance sufficient to make room for the orchestra be hind the rood screen this enhan ces the blending of the voices and instruments and will produce a uni fying of tone students of the university who will volunteer to meet bach festi val attendants as they arrive at the local railroad stations and direct them to hotels 1 eartdegen jr when the call was made for can didates it was lehigh's good for tune to see almost all of last year's veterans report and an addition of three new men the old men had not lost any of their vigor but went into the work with much renewed interest the new men showed that they meant business and it would have been very hard to have gotten along without them they are ex ceptionally promising for next year's work it was therefore the determined interest of the old men and the earnest endeavors of the new ones that have put an excep tionally bright spot on the lacrosse records of the schedule was a hard one for some of the teams represented clubs which turned out the best teams this country has ev er known the season opened on march 28th with the navy on the latter's grounds lehigh lost with a score of 5 to 1 and when com pared with the score of the previous year this seemed rather discourag ing but the brown and white men never lost courage and this loss was the cue for a string of victories on april 2nd lehigh tied cornell 1 to 1 and had the field not been so slippery even a greater victory might have been acquired by the home team then came the game with the
