the cross-country team candidates for the cross-coun try team have held practices for the last week and some good material is thought to be among them rob ert e mickel 14 has been elected captain a cross-country race has been arranged for saturday morning november 23 in which there will probably be seven entries the first five to finish will count continued on fourth page brown beats lafayette by the score of 7 to 3 lehigh won the first game of foot-ball ever played between muhlenberg and le high the game was played on lehigh field on saturday after noon in the presence of one of the largest crowds of the season a place-kick by vreeland from the 25-yard line and a terrific line plunge for ten yards and a touch down by hoban was the sum total of the scoring done the crowd was one of the largest of the season lehigh supporters turned out in large numbers and allentown sent several hundreds to support their favorites ideal foot ball weather favored the play lehigh kicked off to muhlenberg and the allentown collegians start ed to rush the ball up the field by line-plunges and skin-tackle plays muhlenberg made rapid progress until the middle of the field was passed then the brown and white defense tightened up and put a damper on the muhlenberg attack during the greater part of the first quarter the ball see-sawed back and forth sometimes in lehigh's terri tory sometimes in muhlenberg's at length muhlenberg punted paz zetti stood on lehigh's 25-yard line ready to receive the punt but through the over anxiety of bixler muhlenberg's right end he was bowled over without touching the ball ritter fell on the pig skin and it was muhlenberg's first down captain pazzetti protested but his protest was not allowed vree land took advantage of a magnifi cent opportunity to score a place kick the ball was on the 25-yard line and almost directly in front of the goal posts vreeland booted it fairly between the goal posts thus saving his team from being blanked lehigh's opportunity came in the second quarter pazzetti punted and bixler muhlenberg's captain dropped the ball tate fell on the ball on muhlenberg's 10-yard line on the next play captain pazzetti sent hoban crashing through the muhlenberg line hoban plowed his way through the muhlenberg the official report of enrolment at princeton has been made public by professor r k root of the university faculty four hundred freshmen entered college this fall a record-breaking class though more were declared eligible eleven students entered from other colleges and twenty three qualified for admission to higher classes this brings the to tal enrolment to 1650 compared with 1543 last year of four hundred freshmen in college 134 are taking the a b course a smaller number in pro portion to the whole class than was the case last year ;
