inquirer agree on giving paz zetti second choice while each has a different selection for first place camp favors crowther of brown ; fish baker of princeton ; the new york sun bacon of wesley an the philadelphia inquirer gardner of harvard but all of them give pazzetti second place coach keady who so success fully trained the brown and white team this year stated that in his twelve years experience at coach ing pazzetti was the best collegiate quarter-back that he had ever seen in an interview in which he dis cussed pazzetti's qualifications for choice as all american quarter back prof reiter said as a versatille all-around per former pazzetti is the best quarter back that i have seen playing the modern game in judging the rel ative ability of quarter-backs one must consider them from different points of view there have been men who were better place and drop-kickers some who have been stronger open-field runners and others having the ability to punt a greater distance school duties the united states civil serv ice commission announces an ex amination for teacher industrial teacher and departmental assistant on december 27-28 in many of the important cities of the united states eligibility . in these examinations is required for appointment to po sitions for : women in home economics men in agriculture manual training ' high school science mathematics and supervisors of school districts the entrance salary of the ma jority of appointees is 1,200 per annum and expenses to the islands paid by the government with eligi bility for promotion up to 2,000 as teacher and up to 3,000 as super intendent for information relative to the nature of the service and the ex amination address bureau of insular affairs washington d c the lehigh politics club held its second regular meeting of the year tuesday evening in drown hall the meeting was devoted to discus sion of high cost of living a question which to use mr wal ters's phrase touches our hearts and pocket-books g p nach man the first speaker said that this problem of paramount interest and significance was confronting every civilized nation and therefore was due to no such cause as protection tariff which was peculiar to this country the second speaker was t shaffer who attributed the rap id increase of the cost of necessa ries of life to watered stocks and to the over-production of gold mr walters was then called upon and he threw some light upon the ques tion he also emphasized the im portance and usefulness of meetings of this nature the discussion which followed was participated by nearly every member present there will be a meeting of can didates for business manager of the 1915 epitome in drown hall at 1.15 o'clock to-morrow after noon a very fine silver watch-fob has been found on the campus and turned in at the supply bureau the charm is in the form of an en graved medal won by a member of some championship basket-ball team in 1910-1911 lehigh university bethlehem pa friday december 6 1912 basket-ball vol xx lehigh swamps f and m candidates for wrest ling hard at work no 20 season brought to successful close by victory of 29-0 now that the foot-ball season is over coach keady is devoting his time in working up what promises to be a strong quintet from the twenty odd men trying out for the basket-ball team the first game of the season will be played with the university of pennsylvania on saturday this game will also open the season for pennsylvania the line-up has not yet been determined pazzetti has been out for practice and will doubt less start the game on saturday the complete schedule for the season 1912-1913 has not yet been approved by the athletic commit tee but it is known that there will be about eighteen games on the list a list of the college teams to be played will be published in an early issue of the brown and white pazzetti the goods the wrestling practices which have been held during almost the entire year are now beginning to assume more definite shape since a formal call has been made for candidates of last year's team gatch mart and captain herr have already re ported dayton sautelle and weber have signified their inten tion of coming out and will prove good material though the 115-pound 158 pound and heavy-weight classes are quite uncertain yet material is abundant and with the exception of the heavy-weight class they will probably be well filled a squad of about twenty are at work daily in the gymnasium un der the direction of coach sheri dan in preparation for the novice meet which is to be held shortly af ter the christmas holidays this will be open to any student except vars ity wrestlers the winner of each class will be presented with a fine brown sweater the season proper which opens early in february includes home meets with columbia cornell perm state and princeton ; and also meets with pennsylvania and the navy away from home the final schedule with dates will be an nounced soon white team as it did a gainst lafayette that is forcing its opponent to do the bulk of the ag gressive work and conserving its energies for a spectacular finish pazzetti's goal from placement and touchdowns by wylie hoban and mccaffrey constitute the score ; and for the most part each score was the result of brilliant forward passing pazzetti to greene paz zetti to flick or pazzetti to mc caffrey the blue and white put up a splendid defense on the line but failed to diagnose where the forward passes were going with the ball on f and m.'s 25-yard line in the first period pazzetti kicked
