march twen ty-first and twenty-second intercollegiate wrestling is only several years old at lehigh and in view of this and the fact that this is lehigh's first year in the inter collegiate association the showing is all the more creditable the season opened by a decisive victory over columbia lehigh gain ing two falls and two decisions to columbia's single fall the navy was easily beaten le high having one fall and four de cisions to the midshipmen's two falls cornell who has always ranked high in the wrestling world was beaten by three falls and one de cision to three decisions it was an easy matter to win from pennsylvania by two falls and three decisions to one fall and one decision against perm state lehigh's team was in bad shape with new men in the 145 and 158-lb classes and several other men in poor con dition as a result lehigh was beaten by three falls and one de cision to one fall and one decision the jinx of hard luck that struck lehigh's team just before the perm state meet was even more vengeful after it and lehigh went into the intercollegiate meet in the worst shape of the season in spite of this a plucky fight put lehigh in third place she being just nosed out of second place by prince ton in this meet suppes and wat son won the championships of the 115 and 175-lb classes respect ively but no other brown and band notice arts and science club to be entertained there will be a rehearsal of the band in drown memorial hall to morrow wednesday april 2nd at 1.30 p m notice rev francis m wetherill war den of leonard hall will enter tain the arts and science club of lehigh university on the evening of april 9th at 830 delaware av enue all those who desire to compete for the managership of the orches tra are asked to hand their names to carpenter 13 before friday of this week the junior class of lehigh uni versity held its annual banquet at the eagle hotel on last thursday night the banquet was very well atten ded about one hundred men being present the invited guests were dr drinker coach reiter and c r wiley dr drinker spoke on lehigh spirit coach reiter on ideals and c r wiley on stu dent self-government the oth er speakers were as follow s : bail ey—"the class van sickle our evenings burns the futility of a higher education driscoll ■— athletics and abbott-"the last car bill bailey gave a short talk on the class and related some of its creditable exploits he was fol lowed by van sickle who spoke about the different ways of spend ing an evening in this vicinity and gave some good advice steve burns gave a speech that seemed to indicate that he was a business administrator it was very enter taining and showed careful atten tion in the economic lectures driscoll talked about class ath letics and junior athletes on the varsity teams rod abbott end ed the toasts by entertaining talk on the etiquette to be displayed when returning on the last car from allentown his remarks were wit ty and pointed and showed
