electrical society lacrosse practice the 1912 epitome board has been reorganized and the plans for the book are rapidly nearing com pletion the board is giving care ful attention to the work and every effort is being put forth to turn out the best possible book both in style and quality while the epitome is published by the junior class it should be borne in mind that it is a book for the whole student body and the alumni of the university in order that it may be thoroughly represent ative of lehigh it is essential to have the active support of every man in college in the work the aim of the book as in former years is to present in the most attractive form a history of the events occur ring during the college year and also portray so far as possible the literary and artistic abilities of the college at large there are men in college whose talents will enable this aim to be carried to a success ful end and in order to stimulate their interest in the work the board has decided to offer the following prizes : — for artistic work ten dol lars and five dollars ; for photo graphic work five dollars ; for a cover design one leather bound copy of the epitome ; for literary work prose or poetry of interest to the college a leather bound copy of the book men who desire to do sketching are urged to see the art editor h m smyth who is prepared to make assignments and explain the form in which the work shall be submit ted if there are any men who have a sufficient number of sketches accepted and are not successful in winning either first or second prize it is likely that they will each be awarded a copy of the book the photo work will include new campus views pictures of ath letic contests hazing bees and any scenes of interest to the student body the jokes and knocks intended for the book as well as suggestions for improvements which will be gladly received may be deposited in the gag box in packer hall or given to any member of the board the final chorus trials for the minstrel show will be held satur day nov 5 at 1 30 p m this will be the last opportunity for trials and it is extremely im portant that all men contemplating trying for the show present them selves at this time a rehearsal will immediately fol low the trials the november meeting of the electrical engineering society will be held in the physical laboratory on tuesday the bth at 7 30 p m c d kafer of the bethlehem steel co will address the society on general crane specifications prof franklin will explain ber noulli's principle of hydraulics by lecture and experiments and h e ramsey 11 will have a paper on induction furnaces the following 1913 men were taken in the sophomore cotillion club tuesday evening sheppard griffin bowen bayard and linder man bringing the club up to a mem bership of thirty-five fall lacrosse practice will take the form of a game on saturday af ternoon at 3 00 o'clock all candi dates will give their names to cap tain dunn before friday evening and report on the field at 2:30 p m e e reinke 08 has been awarded the commission of testing the quality of the milk supplied to the town of princeton n j he is at present connected with princeton university in the capacity of assistant in the department of biology f m sayford and l c taylor both of the class of 1910 spent a few days in the bethlehems re cently philadelphia-lehigh club the philadelphia-lehigh club will hold its fall meeting on wed nesday nov 9th at 8:00 p m at the university club 1510 walnut st philadelphia pa the main feature will be a general talk by coach reiter on the now foot-ball rules y m c a meeting at the next sunday evening meeting the men who were in at tendance at the convention in to ronto will describe the work done there in addition there will prob ably be an out of town speaker the brown and white foot-ball team shows speed vol xviii bethlehem pa friday november 4 1910 lehigh university athletic committee holds november meeting 1910 board offers attractive prizes for competition no 12 announcement of epitome prizes committee appointed to revise rules and by-laws — class nu merals awarded place of being refunded 2.75 for a lacrosse stick which has been cus tomary in the past the following members of the freshman foot-ball team were awarded class numerals : lopez pettigrew mayer treglown charnock bianco wagner young baker white jay williams ! eagner goyne the following members of the sophomore foot-ball team were awarded numerals : moore cole dugan matthews fahl van nort finn gerhard siegel ford harris rafters white evans cook the second monthly meeting of the athletic committee was held on thursday afternoon with the fol lowing present : prof j l stew art prof w l wilson prof f w white s t harleman r m bird g r wood r f wood d r lowry g m donaldson c r wylie after routine business including reports of regular com mittees the following committee consisting of dr drinker prof stewart and prof wilson was ap pointed to revise the by-laws and rules of the committee and au thorized to have a new edition pub lished mr harleman gave notice that an amendment to the by-laws will be presented by him at the next meeting this amendment is in re gard to the wearing of numerals and the proposed new rule read no student shall wear the numer als of his class unless he shall have been a member of one of his class athletic teams and shall have been awarded that privilege by the ath letic committee ■it was further moved that the committee suggest to the college-at-large that a college custom be inaugurated to the effect that no class arabic numerals be displayed except by those author ized by the committee it was decided that members of the 1910 lacrosse team who receive their l"s be awarded sweaters in minstrel show great improvement is shown in practice for navy wednesday afternoon saw one of the most spirited practices of the season the varsity under the sting of having been defeated by the scrubs the day before took a big brace and simply played the scrubs off their feet the final score being 33 to 0 captain black and vela were back in the line and brought with them the much needed spirit which had been lacking in the early part of the week the varsity backficld was shift ed several times during the scrim mage knox flick price rinehart kennedy donaldson cox and dob bins all having a chance most conspicuous perhaps was the play ing of rinehart this was only the second time he had been tried out behind the line but he was fast and a sure ground gainer in every in stance he will certainly give some of the regulars a rub most of the men had recovered from the bumps they received in last saturday's game and were in good condition coach reiter has been bending every effort to have the team in the best possible shape for the important navy game on saturday the line-up : rouse left end wagner vela left tackle o'gorman reese left guard ackerly downs center . . . van nort harwig .... right guard . . . schmidt black right tackle . . . bayless g wood . . . right end lesesne price quarter-back . . rehfuss knox . . right half-back .. . hart rinehart left half-back .. . cann cox full-back goyne substitutions : donaldson for price flick for knox dunn for rinehart dobbins for cox leslie for wagner mayer for lesesne remember 1908 and beat lafayette
