of coach reiter attended meeting of american institute of mining engineers dr and mrs drinker returned on tuesday evening from their trip to the canal zone region with the american institute of mining of the institute congratulated the president on the capable management and plans of the canal work and president taft's reply voiced his satisfaction for this assurance from such able men at itavana and panama dr and mrs drinker renewed acquaint ances with old lehigh graduates and found their lehigh spirit undi minished by the distance from their alma mater immediately upon his return dr drinker has resumed work on thursday he attended a meeting of college presidents at itarrisburg on the same evening he attended a dinner at philadelphia tendered by the manufacturers club in honor of john fritz capt foresman the athletic career of coach reiter in detail is as follows : lie was captain of the pennington seminary foot-ball team in 1893 and 1894 and captain of the base ball nine in 1894 from 1896-1899 inclusive he was a member of the princeton varsity eleven the 96 98 and 99 teams winning the am erican inter-collegiate champion ship mr reiter is reputed as be ing one of the fastest ends prince ton ever had since his graduation from college mr reiter has been engaged actively in foot-ball coach ing winning great success particu larly at wesleyan and also as a teacher of the theory and practice of foot-ball at the harvard sum mer school lehigh-hermon club continued on eighth page captain black 11 is 24 years old 5 ft 8 inches tall and weighs 166 lbs he received his prepara tory work at the west texas mili tary academy where he played guard black has been on the var sity since his freshman year and has always played hard and consist ently his position is left team and one year as center on the lehigh team he is 20 years old 5 ft sy 2 inches tall and weighs 158 lbs george r wood 11 played end and left half-back on the mercers burg academy team his regular position on the varsity up to this time has been at end but he is now being tried at quarter-back cox 12 had two years of foot ball at rutgers before he appeared at lehigh he has played one year on
