hard scrimmage wednesday wednesday afternoon the last long practice before the hardest game of this years schedule with the exception of lafayette was indulged in and proved to be very encouraging although at times the varsity appeared to lack the necessary spirit which is so essential for good foot ball the afternoon's practice began with tackling the dummy and in structing the line men how to charge the latter being done by the aid of the charging machine then the strong substitute team was lined up against the varsity and both teams practiced punting formations martin doing the punt ing for both sides after that scrimmage was started and at times the varsity played ex ceptionally good foot ball success fully using the forward pass and several trick plays bilheimer and gordon both making long runs during the play the scrubs seemed to have gained in fighting spirit and gave the varsity a harder tussle than has been seen on the field this year outside of a regular game after about an hours work in which the varsity succeeded in making four touchdowns the regu lars were taken out and the second team sent in against the scrubs after a few minutes of mediocre foot ball the second team seemed to wake up and succeeded in making large gains through the scrubs line and were able to score almost at will kennedy was in uniform for the first time in a couple of weeks he being
