lafayette game lehigh cheering section seats the athletic committee has set aside section a south side of the field for the lehigh cheering sec tion these seats will be sold to stu dents on wednesday november 17 beginning at 1.30 p m in the supply bureau in drown memorial hall in the following order seniors at 1.30 juniors at 2 sophomores at 2.30 freshmen at 3 or as near to these times as possible the sale to each class to be completed before the next is faken up the tickets will be arranged for this sale so as to locate the students in the section in the order of classes with the seniors nearest the centre of the field foot ball practice—every evening from 4 to 6 and wednes day afternoon cheering practice — every day this week g lk e clv b — rehearsal in drown hall wednesday at 3 o'clock mandolin c lub — eehearsal in drown hall every wednesday ami saturday at 1.30 p m sophomore base ball—team meets at mccaa's studio for picture wednesday november 17 at 1.30 p m chemica l society — meeeting in saucon hall thursday evening november 18 foot ball game—lehigh vs lafayette on lehigh field satur day november 20th at 2.30 p m brown and white board — meeting in drown hall monday november 29th at 5 p m matters of interest discussed following mr elliot's lecture on friday morning a college meeting was held at which a number of matters of direct interest to the student body were discussed dr drinker was present and was intro duced by president treat dr drinker explained that his presence at the meeting was to pre sent to the students the reply of the board of trustees to a petition re cently made to them this petition was to the effect of giving the col lege a three day holiday at the time of the junior prome and mustard and cheese performance the three days being thursday friday and saturday of that week the board of trustees decided to grant this petition provided the students agreed to shortening the easter vaca tion by one and ahalf days the action of the college to this provi sion was favorable so that the eas ter vacation will end on tuesday a m march 29 instead of on thursday at the conclusion of the fore going matter sayford,'lo addressed the meeting regarding the location and prices of seats for the cheering section for the lafayette game the sentiments which he expressed were that inasmuch as the athletic fee had been raised and owing to the few games played on our field this year the students should re ceive more consideration this year than they apparently have mos her,'lo followed sayford and talk ed in a similar strain lawson 0 addressed the college and presented the matter from the stand point of the athletic committee and staled the justification for their action the discussion was concluded by the appointment of anderson,'lo to present the matter as discussed to the athletic committee and to see what could be done to secure for the students better accommoda tion alumni arrangements are being made to accommodate the alumni who desire to take their meals at the commons d.rown hall meeting eegu lar sunday evening meeting at 6.80 lehigh 6 n y u 6 lehigh and new york univer sity battled to a 6 to 6 tie in what was the best contest witnessed here this season the unbeaten new york team arrived in south beth lehem saturday morning with 150 ardent rooters prepared to carry back with them the spoils of another victory even at the end of the first half when the score was 0-0 they seemed confident of winn ing but the brown and white had carefully prepared for a hard struggle and was not found wanting lehigh's line held like a stone wall the chance of a victory being lost by two costly and untimely pen alities several fumbles were re sponsible for the scoring of the visitors lehigh started the game with an entire sub back field and they more than held their own bouse the freshman who was put in at full back showed up very well making several first downs through the line it was impossible for the visitors to penetrate our line which took away all hope of any con sistent gaining as a result the first half was almost entirely a punting game here martin showed his great superiority over their men out distancing them every time neither side had a chance to score the same back field started the second half for lehigh n y u kicked to lehigh kitchel advanced the ball 20 yards consistent gaining followed by martin kitch el heard ami bilheimer martin punted the ball to n y ips five yard line elliffe signalling for a fair catch as the visitors could not gain they immediately attempt ed to punt which was blocked crawford recovering the ballon the 3 yard line again n y it punted but the ball was caught by heard on the 20 yard line at this opportune time the coaches shoved in the varsity back field and n y u was completely carried of its feet cox rammed the line for yard after yard and easily scored a touchdown martin kicked the goal making the score lehigh 6 n y xi 0 martin kicked off to n y ips 8 yard line and after several futile efforts at gaining n y u continued on fourth page chinese students club the chinese students of lehigh university have recently estab lished a club known as the chinese students club of lehigh university the establishment of this dub has been approved by the faculty and supported by dr drinker who joined the club as an honorary member we may men tion here that dr drinker was born in china so he takes a great deal of interest in the chinese stu dents the club has its temporary head quarters at 454 chestnut street and its board of officers consists of a president a vice-president and a secretary and treasurer these offices are being filled by messers in young 10 i lyman lay 10 and 11 t hii li the club held its second regular meeting at 454 chestnut street on sunday the 14th inst at 4 p m dr drinker alid all the members were present the speaker was in young who dwelt upon the subject of the duties of a chinese student dr drinker also gave a short but valuable advice to the members . dr drinker recently attended meetings of the alumni at pitts burg baltimore and new york and found everywhere the same steady enthusiasm for lehigh and intense interest in the coining laf ayette game the indications are that there will be a large number of our alumni here for the game band dance the foot ball dance given by the university band in drown hall saturday evening aroused consider able interest the night was prime and there was a large attendance at this initial function of a series to be given throughout the winter under the patronage of the ladies of the faculty headed by mrs h s drinker and with the high class of music of which the band is now capable of rendering the affair eclipsed all former attempts which in themselves are remembered with delight by the many patrons of the band the dance started promptly at 8 o'clock refreshments were served at the proper hour and the hall was most tastefully decorated the b;ind deserves much credit for presenting a dance of this calibre to the student body and it is to be hoped that they will receive the same if not better support in the
