and best annual ever published at lehigh the quality of the paper used is far superior to that of any other book and this combined with clear cuts and careful press work means a book of unusual attractiveness in addition to this great care has been used in the binding the color of which is pleasing and the cover design neat and well chosen the whole not only being pretty but substantial allowing the book a long life without being handled gingerly as to the contents of the book everything has been done to live up to the reputations set by pre ceeding books there are a larger number of photographs than ever before these comprise views of the campus sayre park and those of games and track meets the book is full of clever and well ex ecuted drawings that have been chosen out of a large number sub mitted we take pleasure in announcing at this opportunity that the prize for artistic work has been awarded to l t carpenter 13 and for photographic work to f p lawrence 10 as to the literary section of the book we can promise the usual number of gags quotations etc combined with a number of poems and articles which to be properly judged should be read after buying the book as usual the binding will be of two kinds cloth and roy crofter's style of flexible leather and gold edges for those who desire it cards for subscriptions will be dis tributed at the commons taylor hall osbourne put the la crosse candidates through a stiff hour's practice on saturday after noon the work consisted of a short period of tipping after which the men were divided into two | sections and practiced throwing goals y m c a notice the annual meeting of the active members of the y m c a will be held on wednesday evening march 9 at bp m at this time the election of officers will take place the names of those nomi nated for office by the nominating committe are posted in packer hall and were printed in the last brown and whitje it is essential that all active members be present at this the line continued on second page gym meet columbia 32 lehigh 21 the gym team met defeat at the hands of the columbia university team the meet was held saturday night in new york city a departure from the usual method of holding a meet was tried and worked out very satisfactorily instead of dividing the work of each man into three parts each member was allowed only two trials on the floor this produced better results and shortened the time of the meet considerably in view of the fact that columbia was our strongest opponent on this year's schedule the showing made by our team may be five points second place three points and third place one point in the final score of the meet tournament results on saturday afternoon cooper quirk fahl pearsall and white representing the sigma phi epsilon fraternity defeated the basket ball team of section e taylor hall composed of neisen flay hart schroedel shaffner bryant but ler iladsall and throm the score being 37 to 17 white cooper and fahl did some spectacular work for the former while hadsall butler and neisen starred for the latter team . basket ball lehigh 29 cornell 17 lehigh closed a successful basket ball season friday night by defeat ing cornell 29 to 17 the game was undoubtedly the best played on the homo floor this season fast snappy passing and sensational goal throwing were the features three goals one following the other in quick succession were scored by lehigh during the first minute of play . with so comfort able a lead the team played with confidence and seemed to score at will the ithacans never getting within striking distance of tieing the score near the close of the first half muthart was disqualified in accordance with the five foul rule cole took his place and play ed a good game bennett caged two goals for cornell which add ed tp the five fouls scored by crosby made cornelps score for the half total 9 daring the same period of play lehigh scored 21 the second half was more evenly contested each side scoring eight points at times the pace set by the players was terrific in fact comments were heard to the effect that this half was one of the fastest ever seen on the home floor with two minutes to play crosby was disqualified in accord ance with the five foul rule andrews finished the game at center tyde ni a n substituted heath and elton took bennett's place two goals thrown by le high during this half were not counted for various reasons the half ended with the score 29 to 17 in lehigh's favor danny coogan who coached the lehigh base ball team during 1906 and who is now basket
