calendar saturday may 7 — junior class elections in saucon hall ballot ing from 2 to 4 p m lacrosse game lehigh vs swarthmore at swarthmore base ball game lehigh vs swarthmore on lehigh field at 3 p m sophomore class elections from 1 to 3 p m in saucon hall sunday may 8 — sophomore cotillion club meeting at delta house at 11.30 a m tau beta pi elections commencement week varsity wins second game of season by close score the second victory of the season was recorded for the home team when albright was defeated on may 4th by a score of 2to 1 the game was a pitcher's battle throughout lehigh getting but two hits and albright only one sharp fielding also was in evidence and only in one inning — the third did the home team commit any serious errors in the first inning rebert tripled along the third base line borden fanned but rebert crossed the plate when fisher bunted out shipe to brady eisenberger opened the third for albright by getting to second on a throw from fisher which was muffed by sahlin but he was caught trying to reach third on hindel's easy grounder to wolfram shipe hit to croll who threw to anderson and forced out hindel at second anderson threw over sahlin's head in an attempt to complete a double play and shipe reached second kelchner bunted and reached second when king threw past sahlin shipe scoring brady fried out to an derson . in the fourth inning hill replaced sahlin at first borden made a great play when he ran away over into centre field and caught a drive by smoyer which looked like a home run in lehigh's half of the same inning fisher broke the tie by hitting out a home run to left after this inning there was no further scoring and not until the sixth did an albright man get a hit in that inning smoyer singled to left but was out stealing in the fifth inning richards made an unusual play when he threw berger out at first after the latter had made a seemingly safe hit to right lehigh continued on third page civil society meeting instructive paper by mr a d flinn annual elections the last regular meeting for the year of the civil engineering soci ety was a very interesting one it was a night devoted to sanitary engineering the tirst paper was on the baltimore sewage disposal works by samuel may 10 mr may presented an excellent paper explaining the problem which con fronted baltimore when they were no longer allowed to empty their sewage into the bay and showed a plan of the disposal plant which is now purifying the sewage of the city the other talk of the evening was by mr a i flinn depart ment engineer in charge of the headquarters department of the board of water supply of the city of new york mr flinn had a very interesting and highly instruct ive talk on the cat ski 11 aqueduct cut and cover construction it was well illustrated with lantern slides showing the details of the ' different types of construction and also the many interesting and in geneous methods employed in doing the work he also explained many practical points concerned with the placing of the concrete mr flinn concluded his talk with an explana tion of a slide showing the geologi cal formations underneath the hudson river at the point where it is desired to tunnel it and also showing the methods used in secur ing the desired information the election of officers for next year resulted as follows president r w jannus 11 secretary o h sohroedl ml treasurer w c solly 12 during the short busi ness meeting the question of this year's spiel was discussed and in order to make the spiel a suc cess it was decided that a determined effort should be made to collect those yearly dues which have not been paid otherwise it will be necessary to levy a slight asses ment but the society felt that those who have not paid should be re quested to do so at once out of justice to the other members prof franklin gave an address on the gyrostat at the virginia polytechnic institute blaeksburg va on april 21 1910 at the last meeting of the tan
