mercersburg club — meet ing at phi gamma delta house 3 p m sunday march 14 brown and white board meeting in drown hall at 1.30 p m monday march 15 industrial meeting — in drown hall wednesday evening march 17 arcadia — meeting in drown hall at 7.30 p m thursday march 18 lacrosse practice the cage scrimmage on wednesday in the usual mid-week practice of the lacrosse team was held in the cage on wednesday afternoon as the field is not in good condition the base ball team however was able to get out doors and thus left the use of the cage for the entire afternoon so that a very good lacrosse scrimmage could be held quite a large number of men were out especially freshmen and all had a chance in the scrimmage the defense men were lined up against the attack who endeavored to get the ball past the goal tender in front of an improvised goal both captain morris and field captain harrower from one end of the building coached the men in the tactics and rudiments of the game stopping the scrimmage occa sionally and showing the defense how to cover their opponents and the attack how to carry the ball into the goal gonzalez 09 who was out of college for over a month was in his position at goal again for the first time since his return just as soon as the weather . per mits practice will be held on the field every afternoon in preparation for the first game of the season with columbia on april 3 wrestling club the first out door base ball prac tice for the year was held on wednesday afternoon earlier practices were impossible on account of the snow the warm weather last wednesday brought out a large number of candidates the practice which was necessarily light began on the athletic field it consisted of battery work and batting the battery candidates commenced work by pitching and catching each battery in turn playing to a batter who hit to the out-fielders each batter was allowed three hits and in this way the entire squad was given a chance to develop owing to the high winds practice was continued in the cage director dickson coached the men the list of battery candidates follows : pitchers — b b serfass bason b j butz besson over and wolframe catchers : — mcmurtrie butler sosnowski schenck and king the rest of the squad includes — capt uptegraff bose j ander son klar altemus boyer barker j h young c l aman borden pierce smith walters richards bebert o c anderson wright heist mccann and martin from all appearances a good team should be developed however any new men who have not turned out should do so practices will be held on monday wednesday thursday and saturday afternoons musical association at the meeting of the wrestling club held on wednesday it was decided that a tournament be held in the gymnasium on either the afternoon or evening of the twen tieth . men wishing to enter should hand in their names and the classes which they wish to enter to gorman or whitman as soon as possible 11 jimmy " will referee the bouts band practice — in the physical laboratory at 7.30 thursday march 18 college lecture — by a parker smith 84 in physical laboratory 11.30 a m friday march 19 musical clubs — concert in drown hall at 8.30 p m friday march 19 gym team — l contest and exhibition in the gymnasium at 8 p m saturday march 20 with a round of feasting and good fellowship the class of 1909 banqueted for the last time as an undergraduate body at the eagle hotel on tuesday night exactly eighty-seven seniors were present and the consensus of their opinion was that the affair easily surpassed any similar function held by the class in every way from the elaborate menu to the slightest details the banquet was a thorough ly enjoyable occasion and reflected great credit on the committee in charge about nine o'clock the members of the class filed into the dining hall which was tastefully decorated with brown and white pennants banners and flags do nated by w s mitman the tailor an elegant program of music was furnished by groman's orchestra while the several courses were being served after the feasting president a p s bellis who acted as toastmas f^r called for the follow ing responses : " the class -
