lafayette smoker the program for the lafayette smoker on friday night is partially completed among other things there will be a basketball game between the juniors and sophomores and speeches by several of the alumni who always come back for this game a monster parade will follow the smoker y m c a prof h e rondthaeler of the moravian college and theological seminary gave an extremely inter esting illustrated talk before the y m c a meeting on sunday night on palestine and especially jerusa lem the meeting was held in the small lecture room of the physical laboratory but as it had not been very well advertised the attendance was rather small general secretary howard of the y m c a was present at the yale princeton game on saturday as a loyal supporter of his victorious alma mater college meeting a short college meeting was held friday morning in the physical laboratory the applications for tickets to the lafayette game were handed in fair 08 brought up the matter of a lehigh-lafayette night in the orpheum after the game but no action was taken several other questions were also considered football lchigh 27 ursinus by outplaying ursinus in every de partment of tne game on saturday afternoon lehigh gained a well earned victory 27 to 0 from the kick-off the result was never in doubt although ursinus several times came dangerously near the lehigh goal on well-executed forward passes lehigh for the first tune in many names was able to place her strong est team on the field witn tne ex ception of captain olcott whom it is reported wull again be seen in togs about the middle of the week lehigh rushed the ball over 350 yards about 150 of this on forward passes and lost 80 yards on penalties ursinus made all dut 5w yards of uer 150 yards on forward passes and lost 50 yards on penalties anderson received the kick-off and ran the ball back 15 yards ursinus then secured the ball on an attempt ed forward pass lehigh held and received the punt about the middle of the field from here although losing 30 yards on penalties lehigh rushed the ball for a touchdown speirs kicked the goal lehigh made another toxichdown in this half on a blocked kick which shorkiey gath ered in and carried over the line in the second half lehigh lined up with burlingame and mandell in place of black and speirs respective ly we succeeded in rushing the ball over for a touchdown after about 5 minutes of play a number of changes were then made in the lineup and during the re mainder of the half we resorted to punting in which martin showed up extremely well and had a decided ad vantage over keyser this style of play gave the lehigh ends a chance to shine brilliantly and two more scores followed before time was called with the ball in our possession score game without serious injuries although they are naturally bruised and sore they will be put through some hard work this week in preparation for saturday's game with our traditional rival lafayette lehigh's stock is now worth considerably more than it was two weeks ago and the hardest fought contest since 1903 is expected the spirit of the student oody has at last been aroused and every possible manifestation of loyalty and support will be made during the week to put life and courage into the team according to the statistics pub lished at the time of the perm lafayette game our opponents will outweigh us by twelve pounds on the average the respective figures being 184 and " 172 pounds the difference in weight will be especially noticeable in the backfield where chalmers mccaa and conover are considerably heavier than brumbaugh aman and speirs 1 . fladd and anderson are of about the same weight the former somewhat heavier lafayette's three center men average about twenty-five pounds more than shorkiey wester beke and black treat will be against captain ellicott at tackle with an advantage of twenty pounds for the latter on the other end either cap tain olcott or street will have about the same advantage in weight over kirkpatrick our two ends . trout man and bakewell will outwieign lee and swank by about five pounds a difference of no material importance fladd is the tallest
