june but i am anxious that the student body shall at once enter into possession of this grreat future feature in our student life the trustees have taken over the building from the contractor and it is therefore in my hands after careful consideration it has seemed best not to be precipitate in the formulation of a new sys tem of government for a departure so new to lehigh's internal man agement we have in the arca dia a body composed of students who represent and should ever represent all sides of student life — men prominent in student af fairs and necessarily men who ! are marked by the possession of qual ities of self-reliance and strength of character the arcadia will have accommodations in drown hall suitable to the dignity and authority pertaining to your body and meeting as you do weekly it would appear that the plan that has been considered of placing j the hall for the present in your hands subject to consultation with myself as president of the univer ! sity is the best plan we can adopt ! i understand you are ready to ac cept this charge and responsibility i am a firm believer in student self-government it has been markedly successful in the man continued on page 4
