lehigh loses to haverford 25-23 gym meet history repeats its four years ago in a gym meet between lehigh and haver ford at the haver ford gymnasium the score prior to the final event which was tumbling stood 21 to 19 favor of lehigh to the astonishment of everyone the judges awarded fuverford boti i paces in the final event making the score 27-21 favor of haver ford saturday night the score prior to tumbling stood 23-17 favor of le high at the finish it was 25-23 favor of haverford the only sat isfaction in the contest from a le high point of view was that the team did splendid work even though the apparatus was unfamil iar for haverford capt bus'hnell was easily the star winuir.g ten points for his team while c t brown gave the spectators a treat on the parallel bars gaston showed up far better than heretofore as a result of mr kieb ler's effective coaching young frankenfield and trembly upheld lehigh staunchly while scott and moore as usual outclassed their opponents on the rings competeily it was greatly to be regretted that brown our star on the horizontal bar in preceding years was still un able to perform in the midde of the meet scott afforded the audience no little amusement by coming off the rings as a result of dizziness walking down to the wrong end of the gym in a vain and bewildered effort to find his seat in the last event leonard of haverford was awarded members of the classs of 96 have just received a circular letter describing their memorial to the drown hall the class will erect a fire place and mantel costing about seven hundred dollars should any money be left over it will be turned over to the general fund of the buiding furness evans & co architects philadelphia made the design l a olney is chairman of the committee on class memorial mandolin club rehearses ever day this week from 5 to 6 o'clock wednesday at 3 p m in prepara tion for the concert saturday night the red and black of the uni versity of georgia comments very favorably on the recent changes of our hazing rules in the fastest game seen on thj local floor this year lehigh again defeated swarthmore saturday night from the time the referee's whistle blew until the finish of the game there was not a lack of excit ing plays the game started with a rush and after two minutes of play anderson threw a beautiful goal from the cen ter of the floor troutman followed with another travis added one point on a foul and anderson fol lowed with a goal swarthmore took a brace and scored 3 goals in rapid succession but from this point lehigh did the scoring no more goals being thrown by swarthmore until near the end of the r>alf when griffin ihiew a goal and dill a foul the half ended with the score 24 to 9 in lehigh's favor at the beginning of the second half troutman took street's place at center keife replacing trout man near the end of the half da vies replaced porter at guard this half was played more loose ly than the first as evidenced by the number of . fouls swarthmore scored 14 points and lehigh 13 swarthmore exhibited some gooc passing in this half but the fine de fense put up by the guards prevent ed this from helping them much they had especially good luck in throwing goals from almost any position on the floor in defense lehigh was at ht best and many times an almost sure goal was blocked out of 36 tries in til firo.t i nqlf swarthmore only threw 4 and in the second half 6 out of 27 lehigh threw 10 out of 20 attempts in the first and 6 out of 28 in the second half altogether it was the best game seen here this year and 1907 basket ball vol xiv track concert saturday march 16 musical clubs no 40 next saturday night march 16 the combined musical clubs will give their annual home concert at the grand opera house south bethle hem the clubs have been practic ing faithfully and promise a con cert well worth hearing the bas ket ball game which was scheduled for saturday evening has been changed to the afternoon in order to avoid conflict the management has arranged a new scheme for sale of seats tick ets can be procured from any mem ber of the clubs which can be re deemed for seats at the opera house office
