mustard and cheese performance at mauch chunk a success the mustard and cheese dra matic association gave its first out of-town performance at the mauch chunk opera house last friday night and in spite of the rain the house was fairly well filled the audience was very appreciative and heartily applauded all the songs and dances especially the general entrance dance with mclntosh which received three encores after the play the cast and cho rus were given a dance that proved very successful and the courtesy with which the students were re ceived everywhere was very pleas ing the association is to be con gratulated on having at last suc ceeded in getting a trip and also on the favorable impression of lehigh that they left with the people of mauch chunk a trip will be taken to reading on friday and it is requested that all who intend to accompany the association will please hand their names to l thomas 07 if they desire to go on the block tickets the junior class on friday held a meeting to nominate officers for next year at which the following names were proposed for president troutman tho mas and fulton for vice-president fair jack son and snyder for secretary roberts james for treasurer mccann priestly for historian raine heck and finnic for athletic representative sheridan behney brehnan olcott and anderson game with n y u cancelled the base-ball team went to new york on saturday to play new york university but when they reached the college they were in formed by the manager that the game would have to be called off the illness of their captain was given as the reason for cancelling the p'ame the team was very much disappointed at not being able to play and at the failure of the n y u management to notify them sooner won by 1909 the interclass track meet held on lehigh field on saturday after noon was a success the sopho mores carried off the honors of the clay with 41 points the senior won second place with 37 points juniors third place with 30 points and the freshmdri last with 18 points aman 09 made the highest individual score with 3 firsts a total of 15 points staiith 07 made 11 points and mcnally 07 and mc queen 07 each 10 points summary of events :—: — 100 yard dash — mcnally 07 first smith 07 second o ser fass 09 third time 10 2-5 sec 120 yard high hurdles — aman oq first ; friday evening in the parisli house of the church of the nativity the annnal shad dinner of the philadelphia lehigh club was held at the orchard essington pa on friday evening about sixty were present including president drin ker messrs c l taylor and w a wilbur of the board of trustees prof thornburg dr a a ham merschlag and r m dravo 8 ) of pittsburg and n m emery reg istrar of the university during the afternoon an exciting baseball match was played by two picked teams captained by mr dravo and mr bernstein 06 in which dr drinker and two trus tees participated the dinner was marked by the usual enthusiasm exhibited by the philadelphia club at all its gather ings and credit is due to its hustl ing secretary and treasurer mr bernstein for the success of this one i9o8 meeting
