no 60 graduating class of 1907 7ol xiv south bethlehem pa wednesday june 12 1907 the brown and white lehigh university lafayette again defeated 4 to 2 team wins series by taking third game graduates positions university sunday g m baker j w beyer c e foster a b grubmeyer j c sandorf and r j greene will be with the general electric company ' at schnectady foster will be : an assistant in the electrical sum mer school before joining the company w l debaufre a w lawson and j i porter go to the westing house electrical manufacturing co pittsburgh m t saldana and e r trever ton have secured positions with the j denver gas & electric co den ver col w w crawford new york electrical testing laboratories new york city hesse pocahontas collieries co w va i continued on page six 1 ! baccalaureate sermon by rt rev cortlandt whitehead d d s t d , eishop of pittsburg the baccalaureate sermon to the graduating class was delivered in packer memorial chapel before a large audience on sunday morning by the rt rev cortlandt white head d.d s.t.d bishop of pitts burg the usual morning prayer services were conducted before the i sermon including musical selections by organist shields and the nativ ity choir bishop whitehead had for his subject the demand which reli gion makes upon the leaders of men — the men of research of en ergy of invention of wisdom of notable oosition the men of intel lectual force of wide education of outstanding qualities for the first time since 1903 the baseball team has taken two games from lafayette thereby winning the championship for this season as the game at easton next satur day is an exhibition contest to be played at lafayette's request the crowd on saturday was one of the largest ever seen at a baseball game on lehigh field the men from down the river were very much in evidence in the cheering while our own supporters were far be low their usual standard in this re spect except in the last few in ning-s hesse and schneider were both very hard to hit safely there were no long drives as in the game 011 may 25 and not one of all the six runs scored was earned | the two singles by bason and ser fass in the seventh came at the most opportune time for our hopes and a great dccl of credit is due them for solving schneider's deli very especially after two were out as he certainly pitched a strong game the first and seventh innings were fatal for each team mac avoy scored for lafayette in the ! first after two were out on errors by kirk and sterner and long's infield hit of which galbraith made a very pretty stop in our half of the inning kirk drew a base on balls advanced to third on battery errors and came home on an at tempt to catch uptegraff at second from the first to the seventh in continued on page eight
