vol xiii committees appointed the first sophomore cotillion will be held friday night decem ber bth it has not been definitely decided as yet where it will be held but it will probably be at either the eagle hotel or richter's dance hall the committees in charge of the dance are as follows : invitations — olcott tunstal and torrey music — : norton bell and peters decorations — finriie,bayle.ss and barker .-•.-..,.■refreshments donaldson mc donnel and allen floor committee — luckie and i kimball surveying and construction night the second meeting of the c e society was held on wednesday evening in saucon hall after the reading of reports the matter re garding pins was brought up all those wishing pins should hand in their name to secretary farley so that they can be ofderd together the first paper was read by mr turrill on the topographic sur vey of state.n is and he out lined the reasons for the work and by whom it was done ; the men on the work having received their po sitions by competitive , examina tions the description and use of the instruments used was ' interest ing as great accuracy was required which necessitated careful manipu lation ' . the next paper was on suburb an layouts by hagy 06 the subject was introduced by giving the definition of a layout and the different kinds of layouts ; the work differing under circumstances and existing conditions the method of drawing a map of a suburban layout was clearly shown and the manner of laying out streets to the test advantage was discussed this was followed by young 06 on the construction of a bridge approach the bridge being at the foot of market street harrisburg blue prints were shown pointing out the difficulties and the manner of overcoming them lafayette game tickets on sale monday nov 20 the lafayette-lehigh foot ball game will be played on lehigh field on saturday november 25th at 2.30 p m advance sale of reserved seats wi.l begin on monday november 20th at the usual places at the fol lowing schedule of prices the advance sale will close at noon on november 24th grand stand 1.50 three cen ter sections on north side field 1.25 other seats with backs on north side and . west of he alsoa 1 so urp-ed that cheering practices be well attended minstrel show re hearsal a very well attended meeting of the minstrel association was held on wednesday afternoon at christ mas hall the show this year gives prom ise of being up to the standard set by the shows of former years the songs are a : l catchy and have a swing to them that will take the chorus gives promise of being es pecially good there is a large number of men trying for the chorus and the majority have very good voices so that the musical end of the show will be kept up al though there is a large number of candidates for the end only one of last year's end men is back so that as yet the end men are an uncertain quantity all who have any talent in this line are urged to come out and aid in making this year's show a success for the benefit of the new men a word might be said of the min strel association in general in college there are two dramatic or ganizations the minstrel associa tion and the mustard and cheese association the former gives its performance during the first or sec ond week of december of each year the proceeds of the minstrel show go to the athletic associa tion generally for the support of the base ball team on its southern trip so that any aid given to the minstrel show indirectly helps our athletic teams the performance this year will be held probably on the evening
