literary and debating society at a meeting of the forum held on january n it was decided to suspend the society indefinitely the reason for this action was pri marily a lack of interest and sup port it seemed that the arts and science club has quite properly ab sorbed the attention of the mem bers of the school of general lit erature and since the club has re cently extended to technical stu dents the privilege of associate membership it appeared that the last reason for further operation of the forum had ceased to exist while a suspension of the forum is not an occasion for congratulation it wifl'l probably seem a wise action to most of the students that an in stitution which has outgrown its usefulness and failed to effect its original purpose has been discon tinued the students of lehigli are busy men and the support of a club distinguished by age alone is too wasteful of time and unproductive of return to seriously enlist our sympathetic or earnest endeavors the forum rooms have been turned over to the civil engineer ing society to be held under the same conditions as the forum held them 1907 epitome attention is here called to the list of names posted in christmas hall the reason for posting this list is to give those a chance to hand in their names who have not been able to do so at an earlier date nobody need fill out a blank unless his name appears on the list all except seniors,whose names do not appear on the list have at some time satisfactorily filled out a blank and need not do so again it will be a great advantage to the board of editors if those whose names are on the iist attend to the matter at all class and fraternity inserts should be ordered at once so that there shall be no delay when it comes time for the book to go to press estes instructive talk by dr w l on sunday nigh dr w l estes gave a short address to the y m c a he emphasized the importance of right thinking at the right time the general topic was personal cleanliness he opened his address with a quotation from dr elliot a boy should be above all things a healthy wholesome clean animal man should almost be substituted for animal because this word implies responsibility an animal is not answerable a man is he is an swerable first to himself second to his fellows the old question of cain am i my brotner's keeper is answered to-day we are our brother's keeper third a man is answerable to his god there are two kinds of unclean liness first the gross sort as dust dirt etc which is removed by washing second that insidious microscopic uncleanhness of our mental or spiritual body we are fully aware of gross and external uneleanliness but there is another type a pollution insidious microscopic and far more harmful this is from bacteria the earth and air are full of them they pol lute us and we know not of it for tunately there are two kinds of bac teria vicious and beneficent the beneficent fight and destroy the vicious protective tissue in our body also keep our organs safe against disease if however our tissues are weakened our bodies are rendered pre-disposed to harm and disease and sickness result bacte ria must have a proper soil in which to grow it is our duty to prevent their having it our mental life is continually coming into contact with what may be called the moral bacteria we do well to remember the saying healthy mind healthy body we must keep ctean from the vicious ness and obscenity of the world in stinctively every one of us has evil thoughts a man cannot help this but he is responsible when he yields and permits his lower and more in stinctive inclinations to overcome him it is easy to go down hill stop before you get an impetus • political and commercial life show signs of an attack by vicious bac teria in the formative period it is the time to prepare for battle every day we are going into a bat basket ball lehigh easily defeats albright lehigh won an easy game of bas ket ball on saturday evening a game had been scheduled for that date with johns hopkins there will be no team at that institution this year so the game was can celled at a late date the manage ment arranged a game with al bright college which resulted in a victory for lehigh by the score of 94-6 captain travis is still out of the game on account of water on the knee mcmullen 05 captain of last year's team acted as captain and made the first score of the game from the start the contest was one-sided albright did not score until lehigh had rolled up 18 points when gjassmire shot a clean basket during the first half only one foul was called and that on le high albright had only two chances to try for goals one of which resulted in a score lehigh scored almost at will seldom fail ing in a try at the basket during the first half klechner of albright threw his knee out of joint but re sumed play after some time the half ended with the score — lehigh 48 ; albright 2 in the second half porter was substituted for memnllen and an derson moved to forward davies taking his place at guard bird was substituted for keller the shooting of lehigh was al most phenomenal in the second half anderson and pierce shot goal after goal and in a fifteen-minute half 46 points were scored al bright scored 4 points one on a long shot and two on fouls during this half they had four chances to score anderson pliayed the star game for lehigh he seemed to be all over the floor and shot 19 baskets the rest of the team played well and their long passes seldom 1 tailed to result in a score albright seemed to be lost and seldom got the ball the game was a clean contest only five fouls being called anderson shot three goals which did not count on account of fouls or time out or the score might have been
