on sunday evening at 6.30 o'clock mr e t cblton of the international young men's chris tian association will speak in christmas hall master william solt of the na tivity choir will sing mr collon has traveled exten sively among the colleges and uni versities of the west and is one of the most acceptable of university speakers while in college he was prominent in athletics taking part especially in the foot ball of his in stitution his personality strong ly impresses the college men all the lehigh students are invited to hear him friday april 21st lehigh de feated delaware college in base ball by the score of bto 5 a heavy rain the night before had miade the diamond very soft it was still sprinkling when the game com menced but immediately began to rain harder and the game was called at the end of the second inn ins 1 . play was resumed in about twenty minutes as the rain ceased pentz pitched for lehigh and with proper support would have kept delaware from scoring in the first inning however a combination of five errors and one hit brought in three runs while in the fifth two errors and two hits brought in delaware's other two runs in the sixth inning lehigh won the game owing to a series of misfortunes as stewart delaware's pitcher forced in two men by giving bases on balls and hitting two men with three men on bases captain snyder drove out a three base hit which tied the score in the first inning wilson reached first on long's error and stole sec end allee filed out to burchsted stewart made first on steiner s er ror davis sent up a little fly which snvder gathered in gooden sent a hot grounder past second which scored wilson person threw wide trvine to catch him at second and stewart came in taylor reached first on steiner s error which en abled gooden to score marshall sent a grounder to long who fum bled it but the runner was declared out of the line delaware's next scores came in the fifth long miade a pretty one handed stop of wilson's drive and threw to first but snyder dropped the ball wilson stole second and slco-red on alice's two-bagger to left field cullen juggled stewart's fly but managed to hold it davis was given a base on balls gooden bunted safely wiith the bases full pentz gave a base on balls to tay lor forcing allee in davis was caught trying to steal home mar shall reached first on snyder s er ror while murray was at bat gooden tried to steal in and was caught at the plate lehie"h's first run came in the second person drove a pretty grounder past second cullen sent there will be a specri reeharsal of the orchvi'tra on saturday night at christmas hall w m gumimere 99 was in town saturday and sunday continued on third page in lacrosse game score 9-3 the fourih lacrosse game of the season was played last saturday on lehigh field against the columbia lacrosse team and resulted in a victory for lehigh by a score of 9-3 during the first half the con test was close and exciting but in the second half lehigh pulled away from her dpponents in this half lehigh scored five points to colum bia's nothing the game started about a half ar hour late and when it did it was seen that theire were three new i;.;en in the lehigh line-up — daniels at ist defense luders at 2d attack and prechtl at outside home the first goal was scored by columbia in about seven seconds steward shooting the goal lehigh scored after about five minutes play kirk getting the ball near goal passing it to r merriman who passed across the field to deschweinitz who in turn passed the ball across the field to harrower who shot a pretty goal after this the lehigh attack seemed to weaken as did also the defense and after about ten minutes playing goals were scored on long shots by steward and adams tiie defense then took a brace and the attack began to do much better work three goals were shot during the remainder of the half putting lehigh in the lead duncan replaced lueders at 2d attack and barth took daniels place at ist defense in trie second half the team was strengthened by these more experienced men and seemed to have more confidence in itself five goals were scored by the attack and the defense allowed columbia but few shots at goal 1 he passing was much better than in the first half and the shots at goal more accurate of the new men who played prechtl showed up very well and will make a hard fight for the posi tion the return to the game of de schwinitz strenghtened the team very much and he played his usual hard consistent gamie capt estes a so played z very good game on the attack while on the defense tohnston and kirk did very good work for columbia van buren and adams played the best game adams lueders and prechtl ref eree lattig goal umpires evans columbia ;
