sir we would like through your columns to call the attention of all seniors to the epitome's senior re gistration blanks which have been placed in packer hall and chris mas hall these blanks are for the purpose of securing not only the latest addresses but also the senior honors and therefore self interest if nothing else should cause them to be promptly attended to they should be filled out clearly and neatly with the matter that each man wishes to have printed under his name in the 1905 epitome and we earnestly request that every senior fill out one of them as soon as he possibly can this part of the registration has been purposeh delayed so as to allow the insertion of the latest honors so now the time is very limited notices of this registration will be posted in williams hall and the chemical laboratory epitome board epitome sketches in a previous issue of thr brown and white a list of the sketches wanted by the 1905 epit ome board was printed since that time a number of track team gym team basket ball founder's day sports fencing club literary gags fraternities arcadia yale vs lehigh in possibly one of the roughest games af basket ball ever witnessed in the home gym lehigh was de feated on saturday by the strong aggregation from yale time and again the referree's whistle was blown for fouls on both sides but undeterred the combatants threw rules and regulations to the winds and engaged all the more fiercely there is no excuse we can give for the result except that the home team did not use the skill and judg ment for which they are character ized but attempted to gain the day by sheer brute force andy and beggs particularly were at fault of all on the team had have played their usual game the result no doubt would have been different johnny powell played his usual good game as forward and all the goals from the field may be credited to him in the first half yale scored thre2 times before lehigh could wake up , viz two points on fouls and two from a field goal lehigh then did awaken and shot basket after bas ket and when the first half ended the score was 11 6 in our favor everybody was impatient for the second half to begin as it presaged a repition of the first half but the home team seemed to lose spirit and scored only 3 points in this half to yale's 14 frequently in this half double fouls were called on both sides and one of yale's players was forced to retire from the game on iccount of a collision with a door the house was packed and good support in the way of cheering urged the combatants on to still greater exertions but to no avail and vvhefl finally the referree's vvhilstle sounded yale was mastei of the situation score 20-14 im mediately after the game an infor mal dance was held and many re named c line-up ws : dining room of the historic old hostelry was beautifully trimmed for the occasion with le h'igh flags and banners and pahns and presented a most pleasing ap pearance among the young ladies from out of town who were present were miss mary smith of dover del miss dorothy ramsey and miss detwiller of allentown miss lev and miss morrison of easton miss gibson of williamsport miss turtle of nassau engineering record for january 23 1904 probably professor mfansfield merriman has done more than any other one man in this country to prove the possibility of presenting an engineering subejet in a clear manner and without any sacrifice of scientific precision he was ap parently the first to recognize that a text book must be written for young men with only a limited scientific training and yet be as thorough and accurate as a paper presented before a scientific so ciety the example he set has been foflowed by many others until to day nobody has to worry over the ambiguities and cliff useness of the old time books in fact it would not be possible to give really thor ough instruction in all tllie courses taught to-day in four years in the technical school of the highest class with
