plobart in a very listless and uninteresting game by the score of 2 to 1 the result was very unsat isfactory indeed and is no criterion of the relative strength of the two cams hobart had just completed a very trying six day trip during which they had played harvard swarthmore and pennsylvania and heir men were not in the best of condition but they played a strong aggressive game especially on de fence on the other hand lehigh though in good condition played in a very spiritless manner al though the attack had a great many shots at hobart's goal their efforts were fruitless as most of the shots went wide and all had very little strength back of them by special arrangement lehigh was allowed tc play substitutes and a general shift was attempted in the second half harrower being replaced by de schweinitz whose place was taken by barwis and yon borries was put in at center the play of yon borries and hendrick both new men was above the general aver age and both show promise of be ing good men next season the game was delayed by accidents to wilson of hobart and de schwei nitz of lehigh both of whom suf fered cuts on the head the line-up : hobart positions lehigh miller goal of his father interschoiastic meet won by the bethlehem prep school a very successful interscholastic track meet was held on saturday on lehigh field more than eighty men were entered representing fourteen different schools the events were fast and exciting sev eral of the former records being broken the runnig of mcguckin mc gowan and levan for the bethle hem prep and of moyer tyack brossman and mentz for the read ing high school were special fea tures of the meet the wilkes barre high school also did some fine work the record for the quarter mile was broken by mcguckin and for the half mile by levan both of the bethlehem prep the reading re lay team won a close race from the newark high school break ing the record easily in the field events hollinsched broke the re cord for the shot put by four inches immediately after the meet the men retired to the gymnasium where the prizes were distributed and light refreshments were served following are the results of the several events 100 continued on fourth page first shut out of the season lehigh was shut out on satur day for the first time this season in the game with villanova the villanova team is composed of some of the best players in the col lege ranks practically all of them having had years of experience mccleary started to pitch for le lu'gh and lasted for two innings in the first but one run was scored but in the second villanova solved his delivery for a total of five runs badgely took his place at the slab and did much better for three in nings he kept villanova from scor ing but in the sixth and seventh they managed to make one run each inning in the eighth they were again blanked for villanova o'garra had le high at his mercy and our team was completely unable to fathom his delivery there was not an in ning that he did not have at least one strike-out to his credit and often he struck the side out brush and jones were the only ones to con nect each having a single to his credit in the field lehigh played good ball despite the fact that the infield was poorly rolled and the ground very uneven from the testimony of the villanova players lehigh played the best fielding game seen on their grounds this season the particular features of the game were the fine catching and batting of sullivan the pitching of o'garra and the fielding of le high the score : villanova lehigh continued on disposal of the rou tine business kent 04 read a very interesting and instructive paper on compressed air traction in new york the paper showed very careful preparation and was thor oughly appreciated in the general discussion which followed the read ing of mr kent's paper prof heck made some very instructive remarks reno 04 followed with a paper on general use of compressed air in which he clearly demon strated the advantages of multiple stage compression dr drown then took charge of the meeting and refreshments were served the meeting was well at tended and much interest was shown in the various parts of the program dewitt princeton's famous foot ball player broke the collegiate re cord in the hammer throw by eight inches on saturday in the annual track meet beteewn princeton and
