saturday may 23 — base ball game lehigh field lehigh vs lafayette track meet rutgers vs lehigh at new brunswick n j sunday may 24 — at 9.1 5 a m bible classes christmas hall at 6.15 p m y m c a meet ing in christmas hall monday may 2 at 4p m base ball practice lehigh field lehigh field at 2.30 p m track athletics at 4 p m track athletics tuesday may 26 — at 4 p m base ball practice lehigh field at 4 p m track athletics wednesday may 27 — at 2.30 p m base ball practice game college men in demand second team track team college men who are in a posi tion to know say the demand from employers for young graduates to begin work this summer with a view to learning the business and working their way upward is un usually large in fact at present it seems to exceed the supply hap goods of 309 broadway new york a concern which makes a business of finding right men for right places and right places for right men is having difficulty in securing enough 1903 graduates to supply the demand one large manufacturing concern in the west wishes hapgoods to furnish twenty five bright young college men to begin work in its offices about july i and offers splendid inducements to men who are willing to start at the bottom of the ladder seniors thinking of entering commercial or technical work should write for booklet campus note a correction the university gym team will go to allentown on the twenty ninth of this month to assist in the opening exercises of the new gym nasium of the y m c a in that city base ball lehigh badly defeated by princeton lehigh was completely snowed under by princeton yesterday in a game which proved both a slug ging match and a comedy of errors — a slugging match on the part of princeton while the comedy of er rors falls to lehigh's credit the only redeeming feature of the game was the stick work of eisenhart who secured all the hits made by lehigh viz : a double and two singles the game was called in the bth inning with the score 28 to o but as lehigh did not bat this inning five runs were providencially can celled leaving the score 23-0 badgely was very liberal in hand outs allowing seven bases on balls underhill started to pitch for prince ton and twirled excellent ball until relieved by byram in the sixth was equally effective in no inning did princeton fail to score hence after the first two and three innings the game was wholly without interest the score : notice as in previous years each mem ber of the graduating class may obtain ten invitations and programs of commencement week on appli cation to mr james myers n m emery registrar continued on fourth page times and distances eminently satisfactory on wednesday afternoon about 30 men reported on lehigh field to try for the team which is to compete in the track-meet with rutgers at new brunswick on saturday 23rd the results of the trials indicate that lehigh will be well represented on the track and some of the candidates bid fair to break some college records the events run off were all made in good time everything considered and some of the performances were excellent the hurdles were not attempted and the trials of some of the most promising men in the 100-yards dash were postponed in the 1 mile race the men finished in the following order : pierce klar andrews and gregg — time 5 mm jy 2 sec in the 220 yards dash van duyne finished first with crowther 2nd geisweite 3rd and miller 4th — time 23 4 5 seconds in the iooyards dash saffold henderson yon bories and howard finished in the order named time 10 3-5 seconds hayes maccleary and mcclure ran the quarter-mile in the order named in 55 3-5 seconds in the pole vault morgan and harrower failed to clear 9 feet 6 inches and sammis and pentz stop ped vaulting after they had cleared 9 feet 9 inches loses to lafayette in a good game on wednesday afternoon the second team was defeated by la fayette's second team on lehigh field by the score of io to 4 al though the score was large the game was by no means an uninter esting one but rather kept the spectators of whom there was a fair number out interested through out while occasionally when le high took a batting streak the rooting became very lively the game was lost chiefly through the inability of the home team to hit when hits were needed while costly errors were made just when they would do the most damage the scoring by innings follows : first inning lafayette to the bat spencer up gets to first on pitcher's error ■brown to the bat spencer thrown out stealing second brown gets four balls wack to the bat ; hits three bagger scoring brown and scores himself on passed ball by bailey stryker to the bat goes out third to first fox up strikes out side out 2 runs third inning lafayette to the bat downs up one base hit to c f and is thrown out on second on spencer's short hit to third brown gets four balls wack hits lehigh to the bat hodges up ;
