realized what had happened then the students went wild with joy at the unexpected finish to a wonder ful game the bethlehem band which played during the game led the perade about the field after the singing of the " alma mater " the parade marched through town in the famous " snake " formation every man on the lehigh team played excellent ball badgley however carried off the honors of the day he pitched the best game of the season and kept his head in trying parts of the game his only hit came just at the right time to win snyder deserves much the second inning kinne's long drive to left field struck the fence which was the first time it has been done this year it was unfortunate that on his slide to second base he hurt his leg but he pluckily played the remainder of the game lafayette played a very strong game and only made one error but they could not do much with badgley's delivery during the whole ten innings only thirty-four lafayette men and thirty-seven lehigh men came to the bat the game in detail follows : lehigh came to the bat jones was out on a high fly to launt ; eisenhart bunted and beat it out to first powell sacrificed and lewis was out at first lafayette to the bat stitzer was struck out ; hubley hit to badgely who put him out at first ; irwin hit for three bases over davison's head but kinne stopped reeder's grounder and threw him out kinne began the second inning with a two bagger to right field but was hurt in sliding to second davison struck out ; brush was hit with a pitched ball ; snyder struck out ; badgely was out on a fly to launt lafayette to the bat ernst was out on a fly to jones hill hit for one base but was cut off at second on a pretty throw by snyder ; hawk was retired on a foul fly to powell third inning jones was out on a fly to hubley eisenhart was retired at first ; powell made a two base hit lewis was out to ernst lafayette to the bat launt was caught the brown and white no 59 lehigh university vol x south bethlehem pa tuesday may 26 1903 lehigh 2 lafayette . lehigh defeats lafayette in an exciting and well played game of base ball for the first tirie in three years team takes a strong brace and plays an excellent game ten innings required to decide the contest brush and snyder make winning runs on badgely's hit lafayette side re tired by a great triple play big celebra tion after the game stitzer and hubley and lewis out on fly to launt for lafayette brown and stitzer were out at first hubley bunted but snyder fielded it well and caught him at first seventh inning kinne was out out by jones brown obtained first on a fumble by badgely ; stitzer struck out hubley flyed out to jones in the fourth inning for lehigh kinne went out on a high fly to reeder ; davison received his base on balls ; brush flyed to reeder who caught davison off of first base lafayette to the bat irwin was retired by brush ; reeder was thrown out at first by badgely ; ernst was out powell to lewis the sixth was like the fifth eis enhart and powell thrown out by snyder began with a fly to ernst ; badgely followed with one to hill and jones was thrown out by hub ley kinne retired hill at first hawk was out to eisenhart kinne and lewis took care of launt the memorable tenth now began with rather poor prospects for le high kinne hit to hubley but could not run and was put out at the cheering now became frantic eisenhart beat out a bunt to first base ; powell bunted but was thrown out and eisenhart caught at second ; lewis was out hubley to ernst brown was retired by eisenhart stitzer made a safe hit hubley followed on an error by kinne ; irwin and reeder were out on flies to eisenhart and jones this point of the game johnson came to the bat taking the place of hill snyder dropped the third strike and johnson obtained first hawk hit a fly to jones who caught johnson off first launt was put out on first base first davison made a safe hit hawk overthrew first base and davison was put out trying to get to third ; brush received his base on balls snyder followed with a two-bagger and brush was held on third the excitement was tre mendous at this point badgely on a foul to irwin ; davison received his base on balls but was caught stealing second ; brush was out at first base ; irwin hit a swift grounder to eisenhart hit a swift grounder to shortstop but hawk thought too much of the base runner and missed it brush and snydcr scored in the midst of wild enthusiasm ; jones was out on a fly to reeder lafay ette now came to the bat ernst hit to brush who missed it and the runner obtained second base • johnson obtained first on a safe hit ernst going to third ; johnson stole second at this point lafay ette's chances were far brighter than those of lehigh hawk's fly
