special foot ball train lafayette game to easton saturday nov 24 1900 for i,ehign lafayette game train leaves union depot at 1.30 p.m returning immedi ately after the game fare 35 cents return trip south bethlehem pa thursday november 22 1900 no 17 lehigh university the brown and white vol viii foot ball bad weather inter feres with the week's practice new lehigh club a new lehigh club of eastern new york the hard rains and threatening weather of the past week have in terfered to a great extent with the varsity football practice in spite of the near proximity of next sat urday's lafayette game an adequate scrub failed to put in appearance on both tuesday and wednesday the varsity however was out in force and in spite of a slippery ball went through some very satisfactory signal practice the men feel well satisfied with their western trip and particularly with the dickinson game they say that lehigh's team work on wednesday was de cidedly the best of the year and that they were able to stop guards back both at carlisle and pittsburg fuller who broke a collar-bone in the dickinson game can not pos sibly play again this season while capt gearhart's bad knee will prob ably be sufficiently improved by saturday to permit him to play hinckle who has been laid up for some time with a bad leg ap peared on the field wednesday in the best of shape and will continue to play with the team for the re mainder of the season the men will line up saturday very much as at pittsburg with the chances favoring dow farabaugh hinckle and persons for the back field college enrollments sophomores win interclass base ball on wednesday nov 21 was played the final game of the inter class series resulting in a victory for the sophomores by a score of 15 to 2 the junior captain had told his men that the game would be post poned because of the weather but at noon the sun was shining so it was decided to play when the teams appeared however the sky was cloudy and the game began in a drizzling rain which soon turned to a heavy down pour and play was suspended for about a quarter of an hour at the end of this time the rain had slackened enough for the game to continue but the field was extremely muddy and as a natural result a large number of errors were made by both teams the sophomores though were for tunate in that their errors were not costly while the juniors chose most inopportune moments for fumbling only five innings were played but even in this short time the sopho mores managed to run up a large score on the whole from a spec tator's point of view it was a most unsatisfactory game affording no excitement the semi-finals this season re sulted as follows : 1901-5 1902-9 1903-9 1904-5 so this game was to decide the championship for this year this is the third time that the cup has been won and the class numerals of 1903 will now be en graved on it after those of 1889 and 1901 the score by innings follows and from it will be seen that it was not until the fourth that the juniors went to pieces : 1903 2000 o — 2 1902 2027 4—154 — 15 •♦-«-«. the damage done to the veteri nary college of cornell university in the recent fire was fully covered by insurance temporary repairs have been commenced and the classes will report for recitation on monday as usual the curator of the department of ornithology at princeton university has received from the british mu seum a gift of 2000 birds collected from the malay islands india and different parts of europe calendar thursday november 22 at 2.30 p.m mandolin club rehearsal in the gymnasium saturday november 24 lehigh lafayette foot ball game at easton sunday november 25 at 9.30 a.m bible study class in christmas hall at 2.30 p.m glee club rehearsal in the gym nasium ;
