r m bird e m hill w s brownell jr w s johns t k b gardner f w parsons patronesses : mrs t m drown mrs e c mitchell mrs weston dodson mrs reginald radford mrs frazier mrs thornburg mrs chas m dodson mrs j j mckee mrs m merriman mrs klein mrs j g osborne mrs f m bird alumni prize orators w s brownell jr a phase of industrial life j n downey international arbitration to satisfy national honor f hewitt the corporate movement w s johns washington's political idias f f lines washington's interest in the west w f roberts the labor movement in amer ica on saturday night in the gym nasium the freshmen will line up against the strong team from read ing so far they have played but two games both of which resulted in overwhelming victories this time however they will meet a much stronger team and a good fast game may be expected the reading team has made quite a reputation around the country and should the freshmen win they will be able to meet the representative teams of the state everyone is urged to be present at this game as the expenses incurred will be con siderably large and the profits should there be any will go towards defraying the expenses for fitting up the gymnasium the game will be called at 8 p.m an admission of 15c will be charged the grand opera house was well filled wednesday evening with students and townspeople of eas ton and the bethlehems in honor of the joint concert given by the musical clubs of lafayette and le high the concert had been looked forward to with considerable antici pation and preparation for some time and an unusually good pro gram was the result all the num bers were so well rendered that it was necessary to respond to an en core in each case and a better pleased audience probably n-ever filled the opera house the clubs were greeted so impartially by the audience that it would be impos sible to tell which made the great est hit the program began at 8.15 p m with lehigh's alma mater by the glee club this was followed by the lafayette banjo club in " the jolly musketeers which was so well received that they played " siiome " for an encore the lehigh mandolin club then played " aunt mandy's wedding " followed by venus — intermezzo " do'an-ye-cry-ma-honey " was well rendered by the glee club of the visitors and in responding to an encore they sang their " alma mater mr wood of lafayette was heartily applauded in his violin solo work and showed rare skill in handling the instrument the le high glee club sang " little cot ton dolly " and for an encore a quartette composed of messrs monie miller reese and sheesley sang a very pretty lullaby entitled " good night the first part of the program was concluded by the lafayette banjo club in " bunch of rags which was generously ap plauded part second began with a selec tion by the lafayette glee club which was followed by the gypsy serenade " by the lehigh mando lin club mr reese's vocal work was of unusually good order and he was repeatedly applauded he sang " bandelero " and " the ros ary a mandolin trio composed of messrs keller jaeckel and green of lafayette did some ex cellent work and was heartily en cored lafayette's banjo club vol vhl lehigh university south bethlehem pa saturday february 16 1901 junior promenade a small but enjoyable dance lehigh = lafayette concert calendar no 33 the brown and white an excellent program given last wednes day evening played a lively medley introducing several well known selections the concert ended with a rendition of " when the snow flakes flutter low which in its beauty and ar tistic finish showed the excellent training given the club by prof wolle the entire concert was one of which both institutions may be justly proud and showed careful work and good material through out the regular program was as follows : part i alma mater lehigh glee club " the jolly musketeers arranged by weaver lafayette banjo club venus lntermezzo — intermezzo francis eaton lehigh mandolin club " do'an-ye-cry-ma-honey " noll lafayette glee club violin solo — spanish dance zapateado sarasate mr wood lafayette " little cotton dolly words by r h buck music by adam geibel lehigh glee club bunch of rags arranged by weaver lafayette banjo club part 11 " the new couple " dore lafayette glee club gypsy serenade " francis eaton lehigh mandolin club solo vocal bandelero " lynes mr reese lehigh mandolin trio the humming bird characteristic dance e h frye messrs keller jaeckel and green lafayette medley arranged by weaver lafayette banjo club when the snow flakes flutter low adam geibel lehigh glee club
