together enough candidates to fill each of these posi tions few of the new men have so much as seen the game of la crosse and naturally don't think it worth while to learn this is of course a mistake lacrosse is anybody's game and«a man's weight or lack of it is no reason for his not paying the best men we have had have been those developed after coming to college the only way to insure the success of the game is for a large number of men to turn out some perhaps realiz ing that they are learning this year in order to play on next year's team with mr gummere and mr miller in college to help the regular coach we should with the active cooperation of the students be able to turn out a winning team and this is the kernel of the whole situation we must have the men realize that they are individually responsible for the success of the team and that to turn out to drills and field practice i the foundation of the strength of any athletic or ganization the five o'clock drills have now regularly started but are very ir regularly attended the idea is to get the candidates into shape so that when the coach conies in april we can start in with the im mense advantage of a month's hard
