senior class meeting junior class meeting a special meeting of the senior class was called to order by presi dent baldwin in the english room packer hall at 12.30 o'clock on tuesday the meeting was for the purpose of nominating officers for the ensuing year before pro ceeding to this the question was raised as to who was eligible to vote after considerable discus cion it was found that according to the constitution no one may vote who has not paid dues up to within two months of the date of the election some members of the meeting thought that every one in the class should be allowed a vote without considering the matter of dues in support of this opinion an amendment to the con stitution was presented this will be acted upon at the next meeting which will be held on wednesday sept 25 following are the nomi nations for president durham lord daboll ayars laramy herr and dickerman ; for vice-president worstall j r avilson ferriday and mcdonald ; for secretary ran kin s baldwin dessauer for treasurer a d ayres cunning ham d w wilson jr for his torian belden ayars thurston dickerman pool daboll dessauer the first regular meeting of the junior class was called to order at 12.30 o'clock wednesday in christ mas hall by president white there were several matters of importance to bring before the class and as time was limited the read ing of minutes was dispensed with an itemized account of calculus expenditures was read by one of the committee showing a balance still owed of 63.50 the advisability of raising class dues from fifty cents per month,be ing in the hands of the executive committee that committee con ferred — the meeting being tempo rarily adjourned and as a result the dues will be seventy-five cents per month until such a time as the class sees fit to revert to the former assessment nominations were then opened for the election of two men to the epitome board to fill the vacancies made by o'donnell and dunbar resigned the nominees were : noerr bowers boyt ammen,cur tis diven election of these men together with class officers will take place friday in christmas hall from 11 a m to 1 p m the usual re strictions in regard to voting be ing in force christmas hall com mittee the committee consisting of nine members in charge of the room in christmas hall held a meeting on last tuesday care of the room improvements expenses etc were discussed in order to meet the running expenses and steadily improve the appearance and comfort of the room it was decided to ask each student for the small sum of twenty-five cents which will be collected by the members of the committee as fol lows senior civils d w wilson ; senior mechanicals w s avars the remainder of the senior class e h butcher junior class g s yates and w treichler soph omore class b g kodjbonoff and e e george ; freshman class d hall and e r hannura students court the members of the students court met in saucon hall on mon day evening to review the history of the last college year and place itself in position for the term six cases were investigated by the court last year in two the ac cused were entirely exonerated and in the others the punishments recommended to the faculty were imposed in each case objection having been made to the secrecy of former trials the parties con cerned in the last two cases were given the choice of an open or secret investigation and chose the latter in both instances after the election of a representative from the freshman class the composi tion of the court will remain un changed until may sophomore class meet ing the regular meeting of the sophomore class was held last thursday at 12.80 o'clock in the freehand drawing room president meeting of the archi tectural club a meeting of the architectural club was held in saucon hall on tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock the meeting was called to order by vice president wilson who after a few preliminary words stating the object of the meeting called upon mr biggin for a few remarks in regard to the club in as short a manner as possible the latter gave the reasons for the or ganization of the society in a four years course it is impossible to give a man everything that will be of use to him in his chosen pro fession and the club was instituted for the purpose of acquiring a knowledge of those things which will be of material aid to him other than those given in the curriculum the main work of the club in the past has been the collection of negatives of architec tural interest from which blue prints may be obtained pen and ink rendering by means of monthly competitions has also been given considerable attention this year it is proposed to establish a read ing room in saucon hall in which the leading architectural journals will be on file next in order was the nomination of officers and the following men were elected for the ensuing year : president d w wilson jr 96 vice president corbett 98 ; for athletic representative barnard becerra fitzgerald ; for historian leidy g c stockett homer smoot horn fitzgerald daggett far well wood ; for football cap tain homer merrill cleary from the result of the first vote no one was elected but the second vote resulted in the election of fitzgerald for president gass for vice president webster for secre tary and daggett for historian none being elected for treasurer football captain or athletic repre sentative upon motion the meeting ad journed calendar notices thursday sept 19 7.00 p m business meeting mechanical section of engineering society christmas hall friday sept 20 1.30 p m meeting of brown and white board s.aucon hall saturday sept 20 10.30 a m scrub lacrosse practice on athletic grounds ■sunday sept 21 — 6.15 pi m christain association meeting christmas hall wednesday sept 25 12.30 p m senior class meeting packer hall a scrub game of lacrosse will be played on the athletic field satur day morning at 10.30 any man who is interested in the game and has a stick will be given a chance to play men who intend trying for positions on the team next spring will find it advantageous to take part in these saturday morn ing games all men old and new are urged to come out saturday morning mcdonald captain there will be a meeting of the senior class in the english room second floor packer hail on wed nesday sept 28 the amend ment to the constitution to allow every man a vote irrespective of dues will be decided at that time there will be a business meet ing of the mechanical section en gineering society thursday even ing at 7 o'clock on second floor of of christmas hall chaieman there will be a rehearsal of the banjo club at 6.30 p m on sat urday evening sept 21 at the eagle hotel manager there will be a meeting of the beown and white board in the editorial rooms saucon hall on friday sept 20 at 1.80 p m the room in christmas hall which was fitted up last year by popular subscription has been open now for more than six months and has evidently accomplished its pur pose as a reading room and gen eral lounging and smoking room place on the campus the under taking has proven a success the exchanges of the burr and bbown and white are always to be found in their respective places in the bookcase among them are the harvard daily news the harvard crimson the peunsyl vanian yale news u of m daily cornell daily sun daily prince lonian berkleyan the lafayette f and m weekly college topics the dichensonian s u i quill amherst student the tech the university magazine and public opinion the literary magazines are : yale lit nassau lit uni versity of virginia magazine northwestern magazine cornell era yale record brown maga zine and other exchanges of the burr jstow in order to conduct the room in a proper manner funds are necessary to meet the running ex penses during the next few days collectors will be around among tile several classes to collect a sub scription of twenty-five cents from each member this is not much and if each college man subscribes that amount all expenses can be met the board of directors pur poses some improvements in the near future if the amount collected warrants the necessary expenditure they propose decorating the walls with photographs editorial boards musical and dramatical clubs and other pictures and engravings new games will be added and sev eral lounging chairs are to be pur chased let everyone contribute and the board promises to have a room which perhaps cannot rival the " trophy room " at princeton yet it will become equally as popular as a lounging place
