the regular monthly meeting of the senior class was called to order by president laramy in the physi cal laboratory immediately after dr thayer's lecture on " english literature on thursday febru ary 6 after the minutes of the preceding meetings had been ap proved a report was made by the class treasurer the report showed that the class was free from debt and had a balance in the treasury in view of the fact how ever that the expenses of class day are sure to be heavy the class is not in as good condition financially as it should be at this time of the year the committee appointed to look into the matter of having dr worcester's notes in " christian evidences printed made no report for such printing cannot be done until the close of the series cf lec tures mr daboll chairman of the class book committee then gave a short report he said that the board was getting things into shape as rapidly as possible and that within a short time a circular would be sent to each member of the class containing numerous questions which each one will be requested to answer the important part however was the photographs and the time set for each man to have his photograph taken will be posted on the beown and white bul letin board in packer hall con siderable discussion ensued as to the choice of photographer but the decision ot the committee to give the contract to lindenmuth of al lentown was allowed to stand in asmuch as his bid was considerably less than any other the committee asked for a loan of 40 for working expenses and a motion was made and carried granting their request heretofore it has been the custom to make the nominations for class day officers at the regular meeting in february but owing to a lack of time this will be done at a special meeting to be called within two weeks mr thurston as athletic representative made a few remarks to the class urging them to pay their athletic dues and to take more interest in corning athletic affairs on motion adjourned the walks on the campus were badly torn up during the storm mustard and cheese the mustard and cheese dra matic association held an import ant meeting last friday evening at the sigma phi house the first business . of the meeting was the adoption of the new constitution the club then decided to give its performance on the first saturday after easter and directed the busi ness manager to secure that date it was further decided to begin trials for the cast at a very early date a bulletin board will also be placed in packer hall eight new members were elected whose names will be published in the next issue the smoker the annual smoker was held in the gymnasium on saturday night with a fairly good atten dance the first event was a three round boxing bout between bartles 96 and pflueger 98 in the first round pflueger acted on the de fensive but bartles gained several points pflueger became more ag gressive and landed several times on bartles and saved himself by good dodging the honors in this and in the third round were about evenly divided this event was followed by a wrestling bout between gass 98 and homer 99 gass had the advantage in both weight and strength and won the fall after a close contest in 3 minutes 40 seconds howard 96 and slade 97 next boxed three rounds which were spirited throughout during the first round both gained several points but in the remaining rounds slade's superior reach began to tell and he had it all his own way afterwards the next event was an ex hibition of wrestling by messrs fred and chris kogel repre senting the john b stetson union gymnasium of philadelphia these gentlemen are at present training for the championship contest to be held shortly at philadelphia and both are well versed in the art they showed all the different holds and methods of twisting out of the various grips they wrestled for six minutes and received hearty applause following this was a clever ex hibition of club swinging by walter quier sprague 95 and bailey 98 next contested in a wrestling bout the pair were evenly matched but sprague gained the fall in 1 min ute and 27 seconds after this bout straub 97 and pflueger 98 tried conclusions on the mat they started in tor business as soon as they entered bur were ordered to their corners to go through the usual prelimin aries straub nearly scored in a few seconds but by a clever turn pflueger got away and won the bout by a quick throw in 20 seconds the next event consisted of three short rounds of boxing be tween moritz 98 and mussel man 99 the latter had a slight ad vantage in size moritz acted oil the defensive all through the bout and made but a few points mus selman showed considerable ability in hitting and getting away and clearly out-pointed his opponent the last event was a wrestling bout between the kogel brothers for a fall or four minutes fred kogel got the first hold but his brother got away from him in fine style no advantage was gained by either and at the end of with the evening's sport the " smoker " was an entire success and great credit is due to the committee on arrangements and to mr smith for his work of train ing the contestants the officials of the notices the meeting of the civil section of the engineering society hav ing been postponed will be held on thursday feb 13 1896 in the physical laboratory mr eutter will give a paper on " mine sur veying president the junior class meeting will be held on tuesday morning after lit erature important business president minstrel show the management of the minstrel show has made the final arrange ments for the way the tickets will be put on sale and what prices will be charged the sale of seats will open wed nesday morning feb 12th at 9 o'clock at jacoby's drugstore south bethlehem and nickum's drugstore bethlehem there will be no seats reserved before that time and those who come first will get the best seats the sale of seats will continue until saturday afternoon at 6 o'clock the prices will be as follows the seats in the first six rows in the parquet circle will be 1 ; the seats in the next six rows of the parquet will be 75 cents each and the remainder of the seats downstairs will be 50 cents each in the gallery the first three rows will be 35 cents and the remainder of the gallery will be 25 cents the management desires to dis tinctly impress on the students that there is no odium attached to sit ting on the gallery in fact the gallery is one of the best places in the house from which to hear and see a show and all arrangements will be made for the comfort of everyone in the gallery there are many students who stay away simply be cause they do not like to sit in the gallery but the management hopes that next saturday the gallery will be filled with an enthusiastic crowd of students the rehearsals for the perform ance are progressing steadily and the students can be certain that they will see a very creditable show next saturday the songs are especially good and all of them entirely new to a b.ethlehem audi ence a great deal of time has been spent on the specialties and they will be one of the best fea tures of the show the one act farce entitled " the undertaker's daughter which will be the last piece on the program is a very clever little farce which has been written especially for the minstrel show by mr pettinos eemember that all who want to get good seats must go early wed nesday morning or they may not be able to get what they want sophomore cotillon club the dance of the sophomore cotillon club held last friday evening in the eagle hotel beth lehem was one of the most brilliant events of the season the dance was the largest that has been held this year there being about 200 persons present a distinctive fea ture was the large number of the fair sex present from out of town the decorations of the room were simple and in good taste the music was the best that has been heard in bethlehem this year it being furnished by gardner & oarew of philadelphia who are the regular orchestra for the man heim club of germantown the dance began promptly at 9 o'clock and lasted with a short inter mission for supper until 3 o'clock and even at that hour the dancers were reluctant to leave what they considered the best ball of the sea son the patronesses for the dance were as follows : mrs.t m drown mrs 0 miner
