lehigh 6 cornell 4 after lehigh fairly wins the game the referee awards it to cornell the last game of the season has been played and fairly won too in spite of the peculiar assertions of referee young to the contrary on percy field at ithaca in v thursday afternoon cornell was fairly out-played at every point at the last moment they regretted to say " that it had been an utter impossibility to obtain neutral offi cials and captain trafton was obliged to consent to the appoint ment of young of cornell's last year's team as referee and griffith of the 92 team as umpire by an especial courtesy thurston was appointed to the important post of linesman how the first two gen tlemen performed their duties may be judged from the report of the game at 2.55 the ball was put into play lehigh winning the toss and choosing the west goal on ohl's kick-off the ball rolled over our line and was brought out and put into play by a kick-off from the 25-yard line on the line-up beacham made 5 yards through the line but on the following downs mason and dwyer found our line a stone wall and it was our ball on downs barnard then made 15 yards and followed it up by 25 on the old " double pass he made one more yardon the next.but on the following play fitzgerald kicked for 25 yards the ball going out of bounds on the line-up ohl tried to kick but keys broke through as soon as the ball was passed blocked the kick knocking the ball over their line and followed it over making the first touchdown for lehigh after just five minutes of play fitzgerald kicked the goal lehigh 6 ; cornell 0 ohl kicked off and best caught and made about 15 yards here the ball was fumbled to cornell mason started off ferociously only to land firmly in okeson's arms without gaining an inch then dyer made 4 yards through the line then 2 mason made 5 around the end and 2 through the line — cornell's line holding openly on every play as messrs young and griffith were not looking that way not advancing any further on sub sequent downs ohl kicked over the line it was brought out and fitzgerald kicked well up the field ohl caught it and returned the kick barnard got it and made 10 yards but fumbled on the tackle and the ball went to cor nell mason made 2 yards then 2 more ; dyer made 1 warner 3 ; four more downs could not ad vance it enough and ohl kicked keys again blocking it for some unknown reason cornell was again a cornell club is soon to be formed in new york city given the ball then mason made 7 yards and dyer followed with 10 more here the bleachers went wild as it began to look as though the red and white might score a mass play made 2 yards mason 4 and dyer carried it to within 5 yards of our line hall there deliberately held budd allowing ohl to get between tackle and guard for a touch-down umpire griffeth ac knowledged that he saw the hold ing but said that he had seen our men doing the same thing and allowed the touch-down to stand ohl missed a goal and the score stood 6-4 in our favor ; time 20 minutes from beginning of game the remainder of the half was very spirited the features being the kicking of both sides and the brilliant tackling of our men near the end of the half cornell worked it within 18 yards of our goal and ohl fell back for a field goal which he missed by a wide margin fitzgerald then kicked off from the 25 yard line ; the freehand drawing room beading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with the president stated that the object of the meeting was to nominate candidates for the supply bureau auditing committee and the honor court nominations were as follows : for supplj bureau hood and elliot ; for au diting committee t c thomas johnson van duyne and shep pard for the honor court siegel waring hale janney lee and brady it was then moved and carried that the election take place in christmas hall tuesday from 11.45 to 12..45 o'clock adjourn ment followed soon after immediately got on side keys caught the ball and this trick ad vanced the ball 20 yards for lehigh cornell got the ball on a fumble and on the first play lost 6 yards ohl kicked out of bounds and it was lehigh's ball in the centre of the field barnard lost 5 yards mason getting through and break ing up the play fitzgerald then kicked to cornell's 30-yard line then beacham made a pretty run of 15 yards around our left end failing to gain in two rushes ohl punted but his kick was blocked and gass got the ball then with little interference he carried it fully 45 yards down the field being finally tackled by ohl on cornell's 13-yard line on the next play harrison was tackled without gain and the referee blew his whistle here starbuck got the ball and carried it the entire length of the field ' okeson and budd could have stopped him with ease at the start but did not try knowing that the ball was dead when the referee blew his whistle the referee admitted that he blew his whistle but claimed he should not have done so and on the strength of this absurdity al lowed the touchdown to stand steinacher who had been substi tuted for ohl shortly before kicked the goal making the score 10-6 according to the referee's decision this culmination of the unfair pol icy which had been pursued throughout by the referee and um pire ended the game captain trafton up to this time had only objected to the unfair decisions and deplorable lack of decisions but he resolutely refused to allow the game to be thus outrageously taken from the true victors a long discussion followed and as the referee obstinately adhered to his partisan policy the lehigh team left the field carrying with them the sympathy of all fair minded spectators the teams lined up as follows : lehigb positions cornell best left end beacham huston left tackle hall trafton left guard warner keys centre pennell becerra right guard colnon budd right tackle freeborn okeson right end taussig gass quarter wyckoff barnard left half mason harrison ri g ht half { starbuck fitzgerald ful1 back - • • • [ steinacher touchdowns — keys ohl goals from touchdowns — fitzgerald 1 ;
