baseball in the game at west point on saturday lehigh snatched victory from defeat in the ninth inning by timely batting at the end of the eighth inning the score stood 3 to 2 in favor of west point but the three runs in the ninth saved the game for lehigh no runs were made by either side until the third inning when west point scored one cowell was sent to first on four balls . stole second went to xhird on an error by senior and scored on an error by beggs in the sixth each side made a run lehigh being first at bat petrikin made a hit with two men out and scored on a two base hit by cressman then west point again took the lead by one run gilmore made a hit was advanced to second on a hit by jervey went to third on a passed ball scoring on a wild pitch by bowie in the eighth inning each side again scored one for lehigh or th petrikin and cressman each made a hit orth scoring a run for west point cowell got to first on an error by beggs went to second on a passed ball to third on a wild pitch and scored on a hit by gilmore score : west point 3 lehigh 2 beggs the first to bat in the ninth inning made a single and went to second on a passed ball peck struck out goss made a single and stole second wallace followed with another single on which beggs scored tieing the score wallace stole second and orth got to first on a fielder's choice with the bases full petri kin made a hit and goss and wallace both scored cressman struck out and senior was thrown out at first west point was quickly retired hinkley and bauder the first and second men at the bat struck out lott made a hit and got to second on an error king hit to cressman and was thrown out at first the feature of the game was the timely batting done by lehigh in the last inning which won the game the score follows : tips to kellogg and he shoots the first goal for stevens ; time 1 min ute again the ball is faced-off for the next quarter hour both sides played hard and rapidly when hutchinson gets hurt over his right eye and time is called to repair the injury eight minutes after the ball is again faced-off mccord secures it and shoots for goal miss ing ordway returns it but it comes back to bruckner some more rapid playing follows and mccord shoots high and wild the ball going out and before it can be brought in time for the first half is called the second half began at 5.04 stevens seemed to have taken a great brace during the intermission and started in vigorously bruck ner by some fine work nearly se cured a goal but ordway and eod erick were to quick for him and the ball is sent to stevens goal for some time it was hard to see the playing but before long bruckner runs in and tips to mcford and the latter tips stevens second goal ; lehigh 2 on saturday afternoon was played the final lacrosse game of the season stevens won by a score of 3 to 2 the day was almost perfect and fully 1500 spectators including all of lehigh and over 100 stevens men were present promptly at 3.57 the ball was faced off lehigh defending the west goal jennings sends it far into lehigh's territory roderick se cures it and returns but back it comes again and a lively scrimmage ensues in the northwest corner it is quickly brought in and mccord shoots buel making a fine stop there is another scrimmage from which the ball suddenly arises and stops close to stevens goal cole man secures it and shoots but fails and kellogg tips back to our goal dorm 11 makes a good stop returns it but back it comes once more kellogg shoots buel again making a good stop here ordway gets the ball and tips the length of the field to ililliard who shoots wide and the ball comes back to lehigh's goal again kip returns to massey and jewell who dispute zealously for it but whitman interferes gets it and tips to jennings who tips to lehigh's goal and the ball again goes out in the northwest corner on the face-off ordway tips to massey and he to hilliard here a lively scrimmage between massey jewell hilliard and strong is stopped by a long shoot for goal dick catching and some quick hard work around lehigh's goal from which ordway tips to hilliard to yon maur who shoots high some hard pretty stick work around stevens goal follows but on a bad tip by lehigh stevens sends the ball to lehigh's goal where a good shot is stopped by dick polhemus now gets the ball and tips the length of the field to stevens goal yon maur gets the ball and shoots coyne stopping it with his body the ball falls di rectly in front of the posts and in the scrimmage that follows yon maur gets the ball through scoring the first goal for lehigh after 17 minutes play trie goals are exchanged and the ball faced off dick spoils a shoot at goal made by bruckner and polhenius returns to stevens goal where ililliard trys to knock it through and coyne spoils the goal by lying down in front of the posts some rapid long plays are now made by both sides when by some close hard work and some good plays of coleman massey and dor nin ililliard gets the ball and dextrously shoots the second goal for lehigh at 4.23 ;
