baseball lehigh 6 lafayette 14 yesterday afternoon the third game of the season with lafayette was played in easton on the col lege campus in which our old rival downed us by a score of 14 to 6 the game started out very auspiciously for lehigh holloway warne and pomeroy going out in one two three order by flies to in field in her half orth makes his base by hit from a pitched ball and gets to third on petrikin's single making home on thompson's fly to centre field petrikin is caught between second and third and cressman goes out retiring the side in the second barckley is out on an infield fly but crisswell gets to first on a hit drake gets his base on balls and kothermelhits to left bringing in crisswell sigmangoes out on a foul to the catcher and williams makes a hit to left bring ing in drake and rothermel and making the score 3 to 1 for lafay ette holloway strikes out and le high takes the bat senior singles bowie is out on fly to right field and beggs on a liner to third senior scores on coss lilt bui goss is caught off first and the side is out in the third lafayette cannot score and leaves two on bases and lehigh fares no better in her half in the fourth lafayette has no better luck two again being left on bases but for lehigh cressman scores on bowie's fly to centre and senior scores on errors by the catcher and firstbaseman but the side goes out on a double play with the score 4 to 3 in our favor in the fifth lafayette takes a brace and aided by errors on our side pomeroy sc res tieing the runs barclay is put out at home drake is caught on first and sigman pops a fly to thompson the side going out with two again on bases in our half orth again score and the sco c is 5 to 4 in our favor when cressman retires the side by a foul to third in the sixth lafayette gets two runs through barckley's two-bag ger and make score 5 to 6 against us lehigh does nothing in her half and the score remains as be fore in the seventh lafayette takes another brace,and drake rothermel and sigman score on a hit making it sto 9 for them lehigh now manages to get a run petit-kin scoring on senior's hit to short stop in lafayette's half of the eighth barckley starts off with a home run crisswell gets first on a hit drake is out on fly to orth and rothermel gets a double,criss well scoring it is now 5 to 11 against us in her half lehigh does nothing beggs hits to the calendar friday june 1 — meeting of class ical club 2 p m dr hyde's office . saturday june 2 — spring sports 2 p mr athletic gmmuls baseball lehigh vs yale at new haven sunday june 3 meeting of chris tian association 6.30 p m christmas hall new educational ideas the approaching end of the col lege year brings with it the sugges tion of new educational ideas of which this season is always prolific one of them is the proposition made by the students of williams college to the faculty that in con ducting the annual examinations the undergraduates shall be put on their honor the system of pony ing or cribbing through an ex amination has become common at williams as it probably has at every other college in the country and it has destroyed the value of these tests of the students scholar ship in a large measure so ordi nary has this method of getting through . an examination become that instead of being looked upom as dishonorable the student who can make the neatest crib or pony is regarded as a hero the reform the williams students suggest is that the faculty abandon the usual policing of the examina tions with professors to watch the students and that the examinations be conducted on the belief that every undergraduate is on his honor,as to the use of lawful means only to aid himself the students offer to assist the faculty by ap pointing a committee from the class to be examined whose duty it will be on evidence of violation of the rules to warn the offender privately for the first offense recommend his exclusion from examinations for a term for the second offense and for the third offense request his re moval from college a fair trial of such a method for insuring honest examinations would be an interest ing experiment but it would need cordial co-operation between fac ulty and students any appear ance of a lack of sympathy between the two would certainly result in defeating the purpose in view press the university of michigan is the first to enroll chinese women among her students andover's catalogue for 1894 shows an enrollment of 476 students vincent princeton ex 94 will coach the lafayette football eleven next season chess club at a meeting of the chess club last friday evening the following nominations of officers for the coin ing year were made : for president clift 95 and dc huff 95 ;
