pre-election comments given by each of the candidates robert s young 66 withdrew his name from the ballot and asked that those supporting him support james j davidson 65 the only other business dis cussed realt with houseparty peter t meszoly 65 president announced that he received a phone call from stephen f gold mann 66 vice-president of the class of 66 stating that if tonight's concert was not well attend/ed there is a possibility the univer sity would end further friday night activities for houseparty weekends the first meeting of the new rhc officers and representatives will be held tuesday may 4 a concert version of bizet's opera carmen will be performed at 8:15 p.m may 8 in grace hall the lehigh glee club and the chatham college choir will sing the choral part while the soloists will be noted performers connected either the metropolitan opera company or the new york city center robert b cutler head of the music department will direct the pro fessional orchestra soloists choruses and the boys of the choir of beth lehem's cathedral church of the nativity who will sing the famous chorus of street boys in the first act the role of carmen will be sung by elaine bonazzi who is cur rently singing in performances of the new york city center opera company metropolitan opera tenor william lewis a veteran of perform ances of la boheme salome and wozzeck will be heard in the role see opera page 9 dick gregory comedian and author will entertain house party audience at grace hall this evening format change from primarily dance to predominantly concert eliminated tra ditional queen lewis finds u library in darkness ups and downs of buildings & grounds by lynn havach the problem of insufficient lighting facilities in the univer sity library is receiving serious consideration from president w deming lewis and several mem bers of arcadia on monday stewart early 66 and joseph loranger 65 members of arcadia met with dr lewis to discuss the library situation dr lewis suggested that more efficient use of the existing watt age could be achieved possibly by see lewis page 7 for the campus motorist who has experienced difficulty negotiating
