the ; nnual international night sponsored by the cosmopolitan club was held last friday evening at the parish house of the cathe dral church of the nativity in bethlehem the international night served as 3 festive gathering for cosmo politan club members from 50 foreign countries a buffet dinner was served at 6:30 p.m the cuisine prepared by the foreign students with the aid of faculty members wives consisted of foods from different countries approximately 300 persons in cluding faculty members and their wives lehigh students and for eign students from nearby col leges enjoyed the meal practice session — don jones 65 rappels down a cliff at lehigh cap during a recent weekend outing club session by lynn havach problems and their probable solutions for town students interested in using the university dining service next year will be discussed at a meeting thursday at 4 p.m in room 403 university center all town students are urged to attend the meet ing frank e dutt jr 66 town council president said sunday that lee k gackeiibacli manager of the dining service clarence b campbell director of residence halls and possibly preston parr dean of student life will participate see meals page 3 this year approximately 1,350 students includ ing town students are using the dining facilities on a regular basis next year with the addition of the new resi dence halls there will be approximately 1,320 resi dence halls students dutt eaid university regulations specify that all students living in residence halls must participate in a din ing service meal plan this means there will be space for only 30 town students in the dining pro the mustard and cheese dramatics club will present inherit the wind at 8 p.m march 18 19 and 20 in the broughal junior high school auditorium i d cards will be accepted for admission guest tickets are being sold for 1.00 at huff's music store and at the speech division office m & c play students dine perform at international night the foreign students prepared displays showing costumes im plements and musical instruments characteristic of the various coun tries entertainment consisted of folk music and dances from many nations zenaida c zita and three fellow philippine students performed the bamboo danes tinikling which depicts two birds trying to steal rice while avoiding the traps which farmers have set for them jose h fueyo cosmopolitan club president served as coordi nator for the affair prof james v d eppes the group's faculty advisor and mrs eppes helped plan the dinner eiwa trophy eludesmatmen by jay hammond • it was the one that got away lch/gh's varsity grapplers ventured into cornell's bartdi hall last fr'di.y favcred to retain their eastern crown hut when things were over on saturday night the trophy was on its way to syracuse t wo stunning upsets of engineer grapplers in the semi-final round paved the way to lehigh's downfall they key bout was a 3-2 win by lr^w roberts of sya.cuse over captain harlcy ferguscn bob steen la-?e of army provided an upset when he edged previously undefeated joe peritore 5-5 1-0 ferguson's loss cost the engineers at least 11 points in their battle with syracuse if ferguson had won it would have meant at least eight more points for lehigh and three less points for the orange a 1!a 1 ! was not black for the packers as they finished in second place r x points behind syracuse with mike caruso and bill stuart copping individual titles otht r place winners for the engineers were john illengwarth with a second peritore with a third and bob hartenstine with a fourth see page 4 column 4 eastern champions line up for the traditional portrait smiling mike caruso and hill stu art represent lehigh stuart right attempts takedown of defending champ wayne hicks in finals all eiwa photos by richard l sine and jack laveson tuesday march 16 1965 866-0331 vol 76 — no 36 bethlehem pa arcadia seeks supporters in repeal of textbook tax the german club is scheduled to produce its fourth play in five years on april 14 and 15 actors in the play will speak only ger man the play romulus der grosse was written by the german-swiss dramatist friedrich duerrenmatt who intended it to be an unhistor ical historical comedy romulus der grosse is a dra matization of the final decadence of the roman empire under its last emperor romulus the great this year's play will re-establish the club's annual series produced in the osbourne room of the uni versity center other german club activities include concert and theater trips christmas and may-day parties german films and a german table every wednesday evening in the deutsche haus on april 2 delegations from each of the participating schools led by the university of pennsyl vania group which started the drive will go to harrisburg there they will present the petitions and state the arguments against the tax to prominent members of the state legislature the committee to represent le high in harrisburg will be named at the next arcadia meeting colleges participating ia the drive to have the text book tax repealed are university of penn sylvania temple university swartniore college bryn maiwr college allegheny college and university of pittsburgh also carnegie institute of technology pennsylvania state university haverford college beaver college st joseph's col lege villanova university drexel institute of technology and king 3 college .', meal plan to be discussed german drama due in april students here will have a chance to express their displeas ure at the five per cent pennsyl vania sales tax on textbooks and school supplies by signing peti tions to be distributed by arcadia during the next two days the petitions similar to those being circulated at 14 other penn sylvania colleges and universities will be distributed by members of arcadia associates the exact method of securing signatures will be decided at a meeting of the associates tonight arcadia tentatively expects to maintain a table across from the post office in the university cen ter wednesday and thursday from 9 a.m to 6:30 p.m members of arcadia associates may also visit university living groups in an effort to secure the signatures of at least a majority of the student body le high university brown and white
