editor's note : the folloieing is a portion of the university state ment released last friday concerning action taken on the economics 3 affair the action taken this week by the university includes 1 the official record of each student will show a change of grade canceling the recorded incomplete and the entry will make it clear that the student was not responsible for the error which led to the entry of the incomplete 2 bach student's semester and cumulative average will be re computed at once if the final letter grade differs from the recorded incomplete letter grade further if the academic standing of any student is affected by such recomputation his status at the university will be changed in accordance with his new average 3 a copy of the report of the change of grade and any sub and not-so-exciting wrestling match with pitt to the departures of the last date from say re park parties early sunday morning pitt weekend never lost its good-time spirit the jazz moderns and rum run ners both gave varied perform ances taking the osbourne room audience from hand-clapping to moody listening four members of the moderns formed a quartet later in the evening and enter tained the hundred-member audi ence with noteworthy brubeck al hirt's horn talked and before the last chord of the concert died away the audience talked back with loud applause and a standing ovation the pitt match was the usual dull takedown-and-escape type wrestling that pitt is noted for but john illengwarth managed to spark the evening in his own in domitable way with a 38-second pin and probably typical of the whole weekend spirit was the per formance of freddie cannon at kappa sigma where over 250 moving bodies danced and reveled into the wee hours of sunday morning a chapel service at 11 a.m sun day morning and the movie sus picion sponsored by the resi dence halls council were also on the weekend calendar of events lehigh university brown and white vol 76 — no 30 bethlehem pa — tuesday february 23 1965 tuition is raised 150 for graduate studies 866-0331 see air page 6 lehigh has sold its air force — and plans to retire its navy the lehigh air force consisted of one douglas dc-3a aircraft the plane was given to lehigh last summer as a giit by the biaw knox corp a pittsburgh steel firm it was stipulated at that time that the university could sell the plane the plane was stored at the queen city airport off lehigh street by route 309 in the bethle hem steel corp hangar it was kept in running condition but never saw action the university finding it had little use for the aircraft sold it for approximately 40,000 to the jungle aviation and radio ser vice inc a philadelphia mission ary group which maintains more than 20 planes for taking supplies and personnel into pennsylvania drexel institute carnegie institute and the univer sity of pittsburgh which is on the trimester system the range for all five was be tween 650 and 750 compared to above lehigh's present 550 per semester two of the schools bucknell and pennsylvania are raising their graduate rates next graduate school tuition has been raised to 700 per semester effective next fall the increase is 150 over the present rate and is the third increase in five years dr charles a seidle vice pres ident for administration stated lhat although the university re gretted the increase it was neces sary in order to maintain univer sity standards in view of rising costs to help some graduate students meet the adjusted tuition the university grants to all qualified elementary and secondary school personnel will also be increased at present education graduates receive 150 per semester toward the 550 tuition next fall they will receive 225 toward the 700 tuition since the fall semester of 1960 enrollment in the graduate school has jumped from 754 to 1,363 in a check of five other pennsyl vania graduate schools the aver age graduate tuition was 700 per semester these schools were bucknell
