only one day left in arcadia balloting control board agents have been acting he also said in the letter that students like everyone else have the same civil rights and liber ties a decision on the university's role in the controversy may be see b&w page 6 illegal in a letter sent friday to pennsylvania governor william w scranton dower said i believe that the time has come to bring an immediate end to the high-handed manner in which mr jacobson an enforce ment officer with the allentown office of the lcb and the liquor by james f dulicai the brown and white hassle with the liquor control board over a roll of film allegedly taken from a b&w staff member has grown still more involved in the past several days although university administra tive officials would not comment on the matter the lehigh valley chapter of the american civil liberties union has expressed an interest in the case the offer of aid from the aclu came after a copy of the b&w containing the initial story was sent to the national headquarters the fact that the newspaper in question is a college newspaper does not excuse this governmental attack on the press said alan reitman associate director of the aclu's national office he add ed that the confiscation certainly is a violation of the freedom of the press atty harry a dower allen town counsel for the lehigh val ley branch of the aclu termed the seizure high-handed and the wells college choir joined with the lehigh glee club and brass choir to present a variety of christmas melodies last sunday afternoon the christmas vespers service was held in packer memorial church and drew a capacity crowd wells visits lehigh choirs join in vespers lucky drum drawing opened to lu students have you voted yet tomorrow is the last day to have a voice in who runs the student government seven of the 16 seats on arcadia are appointed posts the inter fraternity council the residence halls council the town council the junior class cabinet and the sophomore class cabinet are now repre sented and two appointees from the freshman class cabinet will be come voting members when the new arcadia convenes on the first wednesday of the spring semester however nine seats a majority are up for election if you have not voted you may do so tomorrow between 10 a.m and 5 p.m opposite the post office boxes in the university center under the hare system of proportional representation students mark their ballots by putting a 1 next to their first choice 2 for the second etc there is no need to fill out the entire sheet any por tion of the ballot sheet may be left blank i.d cards must be shown nine of the following 26 candidates will represent the entire stu dent body at large robert adelaar 66 donald beane 67 james becker 66 william cavanagh 67 ; david sparrow 67 terry stuart 66 ronald sutier 67 steve wilcox 67 benham wrigley 67 harvey york 67 and charles zall 66 tau delta phi sammy to move to sayre park by bill bonnell see lucky page 7 most lehigh students listed in the 1964-65 university telephone directory became eligible thursday to win 1 prizes in the downtown bethlehem association's dba lucky drum promotion during the first week of this semester the promotion directors voted to add the new lehigh directory as soon as it became available to official listings used in the weekly cash prize drawing the long-awaited directory was released on campus last week and through cooperative action by the brown and white and office of pub lic information was delivered to dba executive director clifford koch no such misfortune accurred sunday the combined appear ance was a long time coming but it was worth waiting for two baroque works en natus est emmanuel by praetorius and jesus the savior is born today by schutz a traditional candle-lighting ceremony followed by the singing of lo how a rose ere bloom ing by both choirs concluded the services this was the first joint appear ance by the wells choir and the lehigh glee club on feb 20 1960 a program had been pre pared by the two schools dinner was ready the programs were printed and the choirs had learn ed their parts but the lehigh singers ran into a blizzard just 12 miles from the wells campus the dinner was never eaten and the program was never performed two lehigh fraternities will be constructing new houses this year tau delta phi will hold ground breaking ceremonies for their new 300,000 house next saturday the fraternity will move from their present 3rd street residence to sayre park opposite kappa sigma sigma alpha mv broke ground recently for its new 280,000 chapter house which will be com pleted in february 1966 joel m freed 65 chapter president and lawrence teaman past national president addressed attending alumni sigma alpha mu is moving into a 280,000 house next year the house to be located be tween theta chi and kappa sigma will include 20 two-man study-sleep rooms a living room a chapter room with a library and a large party room which will double as a dining room by 808 bachmann a capacity crowd filled packer memorial church sunday after noon to hear christmas music performed by the wells college choir and the lehigh university glee club and brass choir the highlight of the annual christmas vespers service was the performance of marc-antoine charpentier's te deum lauda mus this selection conducted by prof robert cutler featured a fine balance of brass string and vocal sections soloists were maria waterman soprano rose mary cina mezzo soprano fiona morgan alto crawford thoburn tenor ;
