athletes showed their su premacy at the very start of the meet when they won first and second honors in the first four events thus piling up a big lead the final result showed that the lehigh track and field men had won first place in ten out of fourteen events and had placed second in nine of the fourteen in fact only once did a blue jer seyed runner break the tape and that was in the two mile run when skewis completed the eight laps in the fast time of ten minutes and forty seconds the result was slightly different in the field events in this branch of the meet the honors were di vided each team winning three events but lehigh had the ad vantage since the brown and white athletes placed second in five of the six events the meet was run under ideal lehigh nine in for big week will face pittsburgh and rutgers both powerful combinations save dubois for lafayette the brown and white base ball nine will try to end its los ing streak when they meet rut i gers and the university of pitts burgh this wednesday and thursday respectively the rutgers team has not had a very impressive season up to date they have lost sev eral games among which were their beating by the university of pennsylvania by the score of 12-2 and also to lafayette by the score of 16-2 by a com parison of scores lehigh should gain an easy victory city col lege of new york defeated lafayette 16-6 and defeated le high 7-6 while last saturday lafayette decisively trounced rutgers the eastonians battered four rutgers pitchers in the game at new brunwsick and came out at the long end of the hi to 2 score if rutgers has any kind of a team at all this game marks lafayette as a powerful aggre gation on thursday the university of pittsburgh will send its team to bethelhem to engage coach i baldwin's nine little is known of the strength of the pittsburgh team except that they have al ready defeated bucknell and also syracuse the game is ex pected to be a very hard fought one from beginning to end coach baldwin will probably use his same line-up in the field but his choice in the box is not yet known however it is al most a sure thing that dußois j will be saved for the first laf r i ayette game at easton next sat ! urday this will leave captain adams walker and mckenzie to choose from to start the games against rutgers and pittsburgh leaving the probable line-up as follows rogers prior times resulted the track was in excellent condition and there was scarcely any wind to hinder the trackmen captain jose carol was running in excellent form easily capturing first place in both dashes and tying his record of ten seconds flat for the century he also broke the 220-yard dash record running it in 22 2-5 seconds mckelvie was the outstanding performer for the blue and gold scoring ten points for his team when he won first place in the javelin and dis cus throws there were there other leading scorers for le high in addition to captain carol smith the newly de veloped timber topper for the brown and white easily won both hurdle events thus scoring ten points for lehigh gisriel ac counted for eight points when he won first place in the shot put and placed second in the discus throw crdl the diminu tive flier romped away with the quarter mile run in the fast time of 53 1-5 seconds winning the race by about eight yards he also placed second in the one hundred yard dash lehigh had things pretty much its own way on the track winning all but one and placing second in all but four events in the mile brandon and barba took the lead at the crack of the gun and after the first lap were in no danger of being overtaken by the delaware runners al most the same can be said in re gard to the quarter mile run all four runners were bunched around the first turn but on the back stretch the lehigh run ners took the lead and gradual ly increased it until the finish line was crossed siegmund won the half mile with yards to spare but harris was nosed out for second place when gregg start ed to sprint at the end of tlve back stretch and continued this sprint until he just managed to pass harris a few yards from the finish line in the two mile skewis of the visitors ran a consistent race throughout allowing porter to set the pace for the first six laps and grad ually increasing his speed on the last two laps until he man aged to shake off swinton on the back stretch theta ! • delta chi j the frown and white track men won their first home meet i of the season when they de cisively defeated the blue and gold trackmen of delaware by the score of 77 to 35 the le high athletes showed their su premacy at the very start of the meet when they won first and second honors in the first four events thus piling up a big lead the final result showed that the lehigh track and field men had won first place in ten out of fourteen events and had placed second in nine of the fourteen in fact only once did a blue jer seyed runner break the tape and that was in the two mile run when skewis completed the eight laps in the fast time of ten minutes and forty seconds the result was slightly different in the field events in this branch of the meet the honors were di vided each team winning three events but lehigh had the ad vantage since the brown and white athletes placed second in five of the six events the meet was run under ideal lehigh nine in for big week will face pittsburgh and rutgers both powerful combinations save dubois for lafayette the brown and white base ball nine will try to end its los ing streak when they meet rut i gers and the university of pitts burgh this wednesday and thursday respectively the rutgers team has not had a very impressive season up to date they have lost sev eral games among which were their beating by the university of pennsylvania by the score of 12-2 and also to lafayette by the score of 16-2 by a com parison of scores lehigh should gain an easy victory city col lege of new york defeated lafayette 16-6 and defeated le high 7-6 while last saturday lafayette decisively trounced rutgers the eastonians battered four rutgers pitchers in the game at new brunwsick and came out at the long end of the hi to 2 score if rutgers has any kind of a team at all this game marks lafayette as a powerful aggre gation on thursday the university of pittsburgh will send its team to bethelhem to engage coach i baldwin's nine little is known of the strength of the pittsburgh team except that they have al ready defeated bucknell and also syracuse the game is ex pected to be a very hard fought one from beginning to end coach baldwin will probably use his same line-up in the field but his choice in the box is not yet known however it is al most a sure thing that dußois j will be saved for the first laf r i ayette times resulted the track was in excellent condition and there was scarcely any wind to hinder the trackmen captain jose carol was running in excellent form easily capturing first place in both dashes and tying his record of ten seconds flat for the century he also broke the 220-yard dash record running it in 22 2-5 seconds mckelvie was the outstanding performer for the blue and gold scoring ten points for his team when he won first place in the javelin and dis cus throws there were there other leading scorers for le high in addition to captain carol smith the newly de veloped timber topper for the brown and white easily won both hurdle events thus scoring ten points for lehigh gisriel ac counted for eight points when he won first place in the shot put and placed second in the discus throw crdl the diminu tive flier romped away with the quarter mile run in the fast time of 53 1-5 seconds winning the race by about eight yards he also placed second in the one hundred yard dash lehigh had things pretty much its own way on the track winning all but one and placing second in all but four events in the mile brandon and barba took the lead at the crack of the gun and after the first lap were in no danger of being overtaken by the delaware runners al most the same can be said in re gard to the quarter mile run all four runners were bunched around the first turn but on the back stretch the lehigh run ners took the lead and gradual ly increased it until the finish line was crossed siegmund won the half mile with yards to spare but harris was nosed out for second place when gregg start ed to sprint at the end of tlve back stretch and continued this sprint until he just managed to pass harris a few yards from the finish line in the two mile skewis of the visitors ran a consistent race throughout allowing porter to set the pace for the first six laps and grad ually increasing his speed on the last two laps until he man aged to shake off swinton on the back stretch
