dr j burke severs distinguished professor and head of the de p rtmcnt of english will present ihe first address of this year's senior lecture series tonight at eight o'clock in the osbourne room of the university center a recognized authority on chaucer and middle english literature dr severs will speak on new grain out of old fields chaucer's narrative art ihi lecture series is co-sponsored by the senior class and omicron l.lta kappa senior leadership honorary further lectures will be pre sented during this and next semester under the same sponsorship dr severs head of the english department since 1951 was named distinguished professor in 1959 in 1946 he received the haskins medal oi the medieval academy of america for his book the literary rela tionships of chaucer's clerkes sic tale he received a 1000 award from the american council of learned societies a 500 award of the scroll and key society of yale the rev r h thomas p.m to 4:00 p.m will end wi'h an informal discussion and coffee in the faculty lounge an announcement regarding ths visit of the rev mr thomes noted that the lectures sessions should be of interest to many members of the university com munity particularly since the corps is interested in persons having degrees rather than under graduates peace corps representative the rev richard h thomas will visit the campus tuesday and wednesday oct 24-25 to hold talks and discussions with members of the university community who have an interest in the activities of the corps the appearance of the rev mr thomas coincides with a nation wide
