the first of these four weekends the fraternities will have booths in the university center the remaining three weekends will find frosh in the fraternity houses for informal contacting be tween 1 and 5:30 p.m the student life committee chaired by voris v latshaw asso ciate professor of mathematics for mulated this plan at the end of last year a study of the rushjpf program was undertaken to determine re visions to improve the current plan the changes are based on recom mendations of various 1fc members and the past experience of the ad r i istration the previous contacting program expired last year and as the end of last year approached some plan had to be formulated so that other or ganizations could plan their activi ties around the nights of contacting an ifc meeting could not be called and since action had to be freshmen will be contacted in fra ternity houses this year under a new contacting plan described at interfraternity council meeting monday the new plan formulated by the student life committee last spring has been adopted as a temporary measure and will be subject to re view during the year the houses will contact the freshmen in the fraternity houses ronald d johnson 62 ifc presi dent announced this will give the freshmen a chance to meet the fra ternity men in their informal nat ural surroundings freshmen will be introduced to the fraternity system by johnson in a meeting on jan 31 on four of the saturdays during the six week contacting period which extends through march 23 the freshmen may choose the fra ternities that they will contact in addition freshmen will be contact ed in their rooms two night a week braddick ritz arcadia adviser veep announce resignations resignations of the vice-presi dent and one of the two faculty advisers of arcadia were an nounced at wednesday night's meeting james a r-itz 63 who served as vice-president last spring cited scholastic reasons in his resigna tion dr henderson b braddick as sistant professor of international relations cited research work in which he is engaged as the reason for his resignation a vice-president will be elected next week tentative replacement for euz will be david phelps the candi date who received the eighth greatest number of votes under the hare system in the regular arcadia election last december if phelps does not accept the post it will be offered to the next highest candidate the new arcadian will be named before the meeting next wednes day last semester two of the eight candidates appointed to a^cad'a by various student groups — the see arcadia page 5 engineers meet hens to open grid season by jerry mcguire and bill gresho a team of untested quality delaware returns to the football scene with 17 lettermen and a host of promising sophomores the blue hens entertain the engineers tomorrow in the 15th meeting between the teams the game is set for 2 p.m in delaware stadium the brown and white holds an 8-6 edge in the series which began in 1912 expectation is for the blue hens bouncing back from last year's disastrous 2-6-1 season the hens coach dave nelson is currently rebuilding his team but coach bill leckonby won't mind if their im provement is not rapid nelson originator of the winged-t and other offensive surprises hopes to platoon two units each about equal strength of all their positions the ends appear well sfocked the hens best offensive end dick broad bent 6-2 215 pounder is a two-year letter winner back after a year of injuries he will team up with ollie baker another veteran probable starters in the middle of the delaware line are captain bill grossman a scrapper and dick evers a soph at tackle earl ritchie and tom skid more at guards john scholato a converted guard at center veteran gary hebert last year's hard-luck quar terback will probably call the plays again this year defensive standout karl lorenz and 5-7 160 pound joe slobojan fill the halfback slots junior ron mccoy last year's leading ground gainer with 410 yards finds himself at fullback according to leckonby the engineers will have to show some rapid improvement themselves on the basis of their performance in last saturday's scrim mage against princeton we got a look at most of our players under game conditions against princeton and the spirit and desire were good but the tech niques were poor leckonby said leckonby praised three regulars for their per formance against princeton walt king pat clark and reed bohovich are all listed as starters with bohovich at tackle other starters in the line include captain mike semcheski at left tackle harold milton at left end fred schmidt at left guard charlie craze at center soph john tench at right guard and bill rezak at right end joining king and clark in the backfield will be ed winchester at right half and boyd taylor at fullback king has been the most consistent punter in practice bohovich and junior fullback andy larko will be taking care of the kickoff and place-kick ing chores dr carlos baker -
