twice among the loosers in these fif teen games lehigh totaled the high score of 49s points against the 364 points of her opponents this excellent score shows the point-winning power that the team possessed the initial game was that with moravian college this team was out-distanced early in the contest and at the end of the second half the score wal 49-19 this first victory was soon followed by a similar feat with seton hall the final score being 32-23 in the next game more resistance was met stev ens held the lehigh team close throughout the contest but the latter secured a third victory as hosts to the garnet clad mermen from swarthmore this will be the last appearance of the lehigh swimmers in a dual meet this season and they are determined to finish on the long end of the score in prev ious meets the lehigh tankmen have been victorious in two out of six but they have shown de cided improvement in form in the past two weeks and if their be taken as a criterion a vic tory tomoitow may be expected in martin who is both captain and manager swarthmore has a swimmer of high calibre and one who has had at least one victory to his credit in every meet except the one with the army in this meet he was nosed out of first place in the 220 yard swim by a matter of inch es in the meet against catholic university he won two first places finishing first in both the century and the furlong it is likely that he will swim in two races tomorrow one of which is certain to be his favorite the 220-yard swim the performances of the le high swimmers compare rather favorably with those of the swarthmore tankmcn there have been several colleges which have been met by both aggrega tions and in every instance the lehigh team has turned in the better record in comparison with that of the little quakers swarthmore has but one victory to its credit and that was ovet the catholic university swim mers whom lehigh defeated last saturday in this meet le high's margin of victory was two points greater than that of swarthmore but since both le high and swarthmore won by overwhelming scores such a small margin is hardly indica tive of any superiority on the other hand army defeated le high by a small margin of 10 points while they conquered swarthmore by an overwhelm ing score the same comparison holds good for the showing of tomorrow's rivals against rut gers but to a somewhat lesser degree in addition to the de feats mentioned above swarth more met defeat at the hands of amherst and wesleyan by one sided scores the meet tomorrow will be the last dual meet for the visi continued on puye z column 6 cast and chorus for panchita selected to present pageant dean of women lucy m van cott of utah university was voted the most beautiful woman on the campus in a contest held recently dean van cott had eighty-six plurality over her nearest competitor notice the faculty club will hold the fourth of their series of dan ces this evening at drown hall the committee in charge con sists of professors beaver fry lewis anderson turner and mease they have procured the lehigh six to furnish the mu sic and the commons to serve the refreshments the dance should be quite a success as it is to be a masquer ade party and each member of the faculty has been urged to bring a guest although it has been customary to hold only four dances a season it is hoped | that a fifth will be held this year due to the popularity with which they have been received by the faculty members a historical pageant of events in the history of emory and henry college and the immedi ate country surrounding the col lege is to be presented soon by the students and friends of that college during the past month the endowment campaign has been steadily carried forward and the fund has shown a steady increase the late tide of the campaign has brought out the fact that raising the sum of four millions of dollars is no small job and that a long and persistant effort will be neces sary before the desired sum is realized it is impossible for many loy al lehigh men who would glad ly contribute to the fund to do so at this time many of them are men out of college but a few years some just starting in bus iness or just acquiring a family who are not at present in a po sition to be able much as they desire to do so to contribute others are not in a condition of financial stability due to the un certain business conditions of the past year it therefore be comes a matter of having the necessary patience and every le high man will do his share the fund was swelled by the sum of 45,590 representing the gifts of many lehigh men and interests one of them comes i from an alumnus in siberia and is probably the furthest remov ed of any the worthington pump and machinery company headed by a lehigh alumnus is the first concern to sign the corporation contract which is offered to concerns which owe much to the university influ ence among the results of the campaign is the 15,000 fund a gift of the new jersey zinc company the income fromi which is to provide a research fellowship in science and tech nology open to graduate stu 1 dents of the university in some branch of repre sentatives of the three groups that compose lehigh alumni faculty and students will dis cuss the athletic situation here the meeting was called by president charles richards to enable himself and members of the board of trustees to as certain the different view points of these three bodies on th(i subject though until now the subject of having a graduate manager has held the stage the trend of talk now seems to be toward the division of the pres ent athletic administration into two parts one concerning itself with the actual gymnasium work while the other with the athletic teams varsity and scrubs at present these two are merged and to many the sep aration of them seems futile in some sports where the par ticipants are picked just prev ious to the meet as in swim ming wrestling and track this division would be an hinderance rather than an aid the intramural sport idea is again coming to the front witji this new discussion and atten tion has been called to the fact that lehigh has had these con tests to the best of the limited space available many of the sports run special class or intra mural events at the beginning of their season in an endeavor to size up the material on hanc on founders day the freshmen and sophomore football base ball and relay teams battle for class supremacy later an in j tramural cross-country meet is held the winners of which re fraternity teams and six dormitory teams in ad i dition wrestling in itself is a sport which is very popular and is conducted on a strictly in continued on page s column 5 line-up remains the same for hardest meet of the season the freshman wrestling team will leave today for ithaca new york where they will meet the strong cornell matmen on sat urday the same team that de feated the university of penn sylvania yearlings last week-end will represent the brown and white in this contest the squad is in excellent con dition and is prepared to give the ithacans a good exhibition of wrestling to date the team has had a most successful sea son their first match of the year resulted in an easy win over blair academy the balti more city college aggregation was the next victim of the le high grapplers followed by a win the next day at annapolis over the plebes with a score of 17 to 8 saturday found the team opposed by the red and blue of pennsylvania which team was overwhelmingly de feated by the score of 29 to 0 in addition to the above meets the first year wrestlers will meet the columbia yearlings here next saturday being the last meet of this most strenu ous season date of high swimmers compare rather favorably with those of the swarthmore tankmcn there have been several colleges which have been met by both aggrega tions and in every instance the lehigh team has turned in the better record in comparison with that of the little quakers swarthmore has but one victory to its credit and that was ovet the catholic university swim mers whom lehigh defeated last saturday in this meet le high's margin of victory was two points greater than that of swarthmore but since both le high and swarthmore won by overwhelming scores such a small margin is hardly indica tive of any superiority on the other hand army defeated le high by a small margin of 10 points while they conquered swarthmore by an overwhelm ing score the same comparison holds good for the showing of tomorrow's rivals against rut gers but to a somewhat lesser degree in addition to the de feats mentioned above swarth more met defeat at the hands of amherst and wesleyan by one sided scores the meet tomorrow will be the last dual meet for the visi continued on puye z column 6 cast and chorus for panchita selected to present pageant dean of women lucy m van cott of utah university was voted the carried forward and the fund has shown a steady increase the late tide of the campaign has brought out the fact that raising the sum of four millions of dollars is no small job and that a long and persistant effort will be neces sary before the desired sum is realized it is impossible for many loy al lehigh men who would glad ly contribute to the fund to do so at this time many of them are men out of college but a few years some just starting in bus iness or just acquiring a family who are not at present in a po sition to be able much as they desire to do so to contribute others are not in a condition of financial stability due to the un certain business conditions of the past year it therefore be comes a matter of having the necessary patience and every le high man will do his share
