lehigh's glee club and brass choir will again host the cedar crest col lege choir at the annual christmas vespers service sunday at 4 p.m in packer memorial church major selections on the pro gram will be performances by the two choirs of the christ mas pastorale known as the farewell of the shepherds from l'enfance dv christ by berlioz and christmas day by gustav hoist leading the procession into the chapel the brass choir and choris ters will perform hoist's person ent hodie the choir members will carry traditional moravian candles the first part of the service will include three 17th century christ mas motets by the cedar crest choir and two works by the lehigh men piano soloist barry berman 61 will be featured in the male choir's second song in die nativi tatis by prof andrew imbrie of the university of california the 32-member lehigh brass ensemble led by jonathan elkus assistant professor of music will play a group of seasonal works trumpet vol untary by jeremiah clarke bethlehem pa in an unprecedented action arcadia moved into the field of inter national student relations wednesday night when it voted unanimously to telegraph its protest of the execution of hungarian students to the hungarian government after hearing solon william eberhart 0 describe the recent execution of 31 hungarian students for their participation in the 1956 revolution the student council voted to appeal to the hungar ian ministry of education for release of several hundred students and young workers now reportedly being held in prison awaiting their 18th birthday when they can be legally executed past appeals for amnesty and information have been summarily rejected by the hungarian government eberhart reported he told the council he had received his information from the u.s national student association at a recent conference in new york nsa has already sent numerous appeals to hungary but has been unsuc cessful in stopping the executions which are held 24 hours after sen tence is passed with opportunity for repeal in other action arcadia consid ered recommendations from the stu dent life committee on its traffic court proposal it rejected the slc suggestion that the observing the formation of partisan lehigh undergraduate organizations in support of both political parties in packard auditorium roy m schafer president of the young democratic clubs of america and wilbur c creveling chairman of lehigh county young republican clubs delivered talks on their respective parties followed by a question and answer period with the approximately 60-person audience attorney creveling substituted for the hon robert r barry r n.y the originally scheduled speaker as legislative activities kept the congressman from at tending the rally following an introduction by as sociate dean of students preston parr during which he stressed the importance of undergradute politi cal thinking the guest speakers presented their views on party politics outlining the ideals and prin ciples of the democratic party schafer queried which do see ygop page 7 swept into office by a landslide vote junior richard shulman led four other juniors and two sopho mores to seats on the 14th arcadia wednesday night on the same ballot arcadia's proposed constitutional revision failed to gain sufficient student support to be formally accept ed in addition to shulman juniors brian bauknight james ciaravino paul miller and myron olstein and sophomores carl greer and edward wagner were named to student council seats they join eight juniors named to the student council last month by extra-curricular groups neal duf fy albert johanson morris kelsey orlin livdahl philip mezey robert paternoster joseph pittenger and edward watters round out the new arcadia to take office at the begin ning of next semester shulman polled a record number of first-place votes — 243 — more than double the to tal of his nearest opponent his total surpasses the num ber of votes any candidate in recent years has been able to pull his 243 ballots enabled him to be named immediately to arcadia while other candi dates had to rely on vote trans fers to reach the droop quota minimum of 139 in contrast last year's top vote-getter was not placed into an arcadia seat until the 18th ballot transfer used under the hare system of proportional representation in second place voting was carl greer who reached the necessary 139 on the third ballot transfer fol lowing greer were paul miller brian bauknight and james ciara vino who received sufficient votes to top the quota on the eighth trans fer they received 102 94 and 75 first place votees respectively myron olstein was named on the ninth transfer after receiving 105 first-place votes edward wagner filled the final opening following see
