moravec missing in center directory friday nov 20 1959 vol 71 — no 17 activities leading to lehigh's most traditional tradition the lehigh lafayette football game will officially begin tonight with the pep rally in grace hall at 7:30 p.m ¦ dr dudley johnson assistant professor of economics will preside as master of ceremonies of the event the lehigh cheerleaders and band will be on hand to incite spirit for tomorrow's game dravo d 4 richards a3 and dravo a 4 will vie for a cup awarded for the first time to the fresh man living group presenting the best skit at the pep rally the.se selections were chosen by cyanide as fkjajists on the basis of originality humor and good taste although only 11 out of 29 sections showed up for the tryouts stated brian bauknight 61 cyan ide representative the three we selected were of good caliber henry p campbell assistant director of physical education samuel h missimer asso ciate director of admissions and dr dudley johnson will judge the three skits members of dravo a 2 will display the skill which won tcp honors in the freshman song con test last week a highlight of the rally will be the introduction of the lehigh football team by the coaches after the rally students will move to the upper field where the bonfire lighting will take place freshman guarding of the large wood pile has been in progress since wednesday night by tradition flames of the bon fire must reach 63 feet in honor of the class of 63 when the flame has died down frosh will begin a pa jama parade through town to the women's dor mitories of moravian college at moravian the freshman will serenade the girls from the street before the proces sion files back to campus approximately 10,000 alumni parents and friends are expected to be on campus for the weekend over 600 lehigh south moun tineer alumni will attend a leo pard bar-b-q in grace hall im mediately before the game members of the lafayette bonfihe guarding freshman have been guarding the bon fire day and night marring this year's lafayette week has been cyan ide s refusal to permit the consumption of beer on the field lehigh university brown and white snoball includes christie drama bethlehem pa missing where is dorothy d moravec see mrs page 9 some sort of a prank and would have been replaced had the letters not been thrown away at lehigh since 1946 mrs mora vec first held the post of housing director for many years she headed the student activities office and last year was named assistant to associate dean preston parr parr refused all comment on mrs moravec's whereabouts saying only that she was on vacation the student activities director first left her office at the middle of last month at that time she remained in the building but was on special assignment according to parr she was seen in the center's third floor trustee's room for over a week fol lowing her release from the first floor office reliable sources indicated that during that time she was bringing up to date and straightening out all of her records and accounts follow ing the completion of this task she left the center although she has been seen in the build ing at various times during the disappearance of the name of mrs dorothy d moravec from the university center directory this week brought into public the ques tion of where the head of the stu dent activities office has been for the past month the removal of the name of the long-time activities head was explained by uc recep tionist margaret bird as being unauthorized she told the brown and white that the name had been removed as white winter will be the theme for the upcoming sno-ball weekend dance dec 5 sponsored by the class of 62 agatha christie's trial mys tery witness for the prose cution will be presented as part of the weekend on dec 3 4 and 5 zht mustard and cheese production will be staged at broughal junior high school matt gillespie with a 14-piece band and a vocalist will supply the music for the dance gillespie has previously played at several lehigh dunces most recently at the fresh man dink hop in continuity with the theme the upper floor of grace hall will be dec orated with spruce trees snow flakes will be profusely scattered about the walls and a huge snow ball will hang from the ceiling the centerpiece will be rep see weekend page 9 clark to present darwin lecture arcadia not responsible for freshman damages 100 dorm fund reported stolen the theft of 100 from a rich ards house damage contingency fund was disclosed by residence rails authorities this week the money — collected from members of the house and set aside for payment for possible future house damage — was be lieved to have been removed from the room of richards res ident officer garraint n d evans some nov 23 to 25 father clark will address a variety of classes during the three day-period at 11:10 monday he will address religion 13 in coppee 3 en a pertinent point from psy cliiatry love or perish this will concern the relevance to human mental health of the philosophy oil subjectivity and the religious virtue of charity following a luncheon with the in terfaith council in the asa packer room father clark will lecture to a journalism group in the university center c-017 on the function of see rev page 3 will not take any responsibility for these actions tempers flared and accusa tions flew at the two hour meeting as arcadians hassled over expenses incurred and contributions made by mem bers to the arcadia effort three hundred dollars was ap propriated by the solons during the evening for a variety of pur poses despite admonitions by treasurer otis johnson about pos sible overspending throughout the evening meeting discussions concerning use of arcadia funds erupted the solons approved a measure to allocate 15 per man for each present or future arcadian plan ning to attend the national stu dent association's penta-regicnal meeting in new york early next month in addition the body will foot the bill for travel expenses to and from the congress considerable discussion cen tered about the newly-formed student educational policy committee arcadia allocated the committee 50 but only see solons page 6 dr christensen speaks in ohio dr glenn j christensen dean of the college of arts and sciences will speak at wooster college ohio on dec 11 the college celebrates wooster day every year with a speech by one of its alumni dean christensen was graduated from wooster 25 years ago next june his topic has not been decided yet the lafayette leopard will meet its traditional fate once again in the displays of 30 fraternities and seven residence halls the three living groups with the best displays will each re ceive a plaquo for their efforts the judging will be based on
