of nine seats on the board will be filled at the nov 3 election democrats presently holti all nine posts dinsmore is a republican the control of the board by the democrats is a condition which dinsmore says has led to an atti tude of politics and patronage first education second the school board situation has been a mess for the last two years under the democratic majority the importance of this election is such that it seems to dominate not only the city elections but the county as well he commented dinsmore and his republican running mates proposed a 15 point plan that would restrict the board to its proper sphere it is imperative dinsmore stated that a program be insti tuted to meet the special needs of the gifted and talented at all grade levels overall quality of instruction especially insofar as it presented well-chosen samples of concerti which illustrate the musical temperaments of their composers and which reflect the musical environments surrounding their composers although none of the concerti were masterpieces they were good to excellent showcases for the craftsmanship and talent of their com posers on friday night two good examples of the concerto grossi the of who will conduct fresh man elections or when they will be held queried by telephone sunday night representatives of each group admitted no plans have been made for either class or house elections among the first-classmen charles hodge 61 vice-president of cyanide in charge of freshman cabinet acknowledged that he was responsible for class officer elections but could give only an indefinite date of sometime in november or de cember for the event hodge added that the resident officers had submitted a proposal on elections to cyanide for its approval but that no action hadi yet been taken and none was expected hodge noted that cyanide guided the freshmen until lafayette game which falls on nov 17 and the elections might be sometime after that date he claimed i'm head of freshman spoken to the rhc officer having given hodge and eber see cyanide page 6 interfraternity council learned last night that three pledges of a le high fraternity lifted a dozen trophies and beer mugs from sigma alpha mu's perm state chapter over the past weekend the fraternity council was told however that all of the mugs and trophies had been returned and that the lehigh chapter involved had apologized to the sigma alpha mv chapters at lehigh and perm state as well as to the sam national ifc president william horton 60 noted that the members of the fraternity involved had taken immediate action to return the stolen articles and told the assembled grcup that because everything has been straightened out no disciplinary action was to be forthcoming from ifg at the present time it's extremely bad publicity for the lehigh fraternity system hor ton noted you should advise your pledges that they act as representa tives of your house and of lehigh when they go on pledge trips make sure everything is done in good taste ifc was also told that 18 tro phies and mugs had been removed from perm state's tau kappa epsi lon chapter and another 10 were missing from lambda chi alpha at state all lehigh fraternities how ever denied any knowledge of the two thefts in other action ifc voted 15-14 not to allow fraternity men to sleep in the freshman residence halls during house party weekend reasons for the decision were to avoid to un necessary pre-contacting frater nitization with freshmen and to allow displaced freshmen to find rooms in dravo house horton expressed hope that
