all students interested in seeing music festival resumed next year are asked to attend a mass meet ing friday at 4 p.m in room 302 of christmas saucon hall bob croneberger 58 last year's student co ordinator made the plea for all to attend so that festival will not be a thing for history books but an activity for the calendar of 1959 croneberger noted that so much talk has been flying around campus about festival that fesitval personnel of last year want to see just how much of that talk is sincere the meeting will be conducted by last year's officers headed by croneberger jim barney bill murray jack parker curt schollenberger and larry wright all of these with the exception of wright are in their final year at lehigh croneberger noted however that this does not mean we are going to forget it festival as anyone in the organization will tell you is something that cannot be forgotten once a student becomes associated with festival and its traditions he will do his utmost to see that these traditions are carried on this is what the staff is go ing to do — our utmost he said that the problem of music festival boils down to the fact that it cannot be produced without men to plan wire hammer nails and set lights the main body of the festival organization must be organized well in advance croneberger said one of the most important things to remember is that in order to insure continuity we must organize and organize now at friday's meeting the group plans to lay the groundwork for electing officers for the remainder of this year and next year these officers will be chosen from members of lehigh's musical organiza tions as well as from the people interested in festival for the rest of this semester last year's officers will explain all ac tivities of music festival to the new officers they will aid the new men in making a week-by-week plan for the festival all aspects will be considered because of the lack of veterans next year music festival would have virtually no chance of success without the aid and advice of last year's officers croneberger noted the difficult time experienced last year after a one-year break he pointed out too that last year there were more returning festival personnel than there will be next year but with planning this year next year's troup should experience virtually little diffi culty the festival meeting will also be attended by prof albert rights and prof jonathan elkus prof robert a cutler was also scheduled to attend but will be out of town for the day elkus croneberger noted has expressed a great deal of interest in festival he has asked all his band members to attend the meeting croneberger said that although rights will not be directely as sociated with festival next year he like the seniors has agreed to do all he can to help organize for 1959 cutler the glee club director will resume his festival duties his see seniors page 4 last week nor did he know that a town representative was sitting in on the meetings glose admitted the committee man never reported to tc and that he is not even a member of the group now that the ex istence of the committee has been established glose has ap pointed two tc men to attend meetings glose contends that noll doc tored-up the original instead of making corrections only on a grammatical viewpoint noll denying the accusations said he had made only grammatical changes however he admitted he had inverted two paragraphs and had lengthened articles of the draft under consideration he contended his changes did not change the see decide page 5 university member of the american economic association and a member of the u s hous ing delegation to the ussr 1956 his main work is serving as a member of the eco nomic research staff of the rand corporation in washington heymann's lecture is sponsored by the depart ments of accounting finance economics and sociology international relations the international relations clubs the economics seminar and the honors seminar in the social sciences in conjunction with the co operative lecture series economic elements of soviet national power will be the topic when hans heymann speaks at 8 tonight in packard auditorium in the last cls lecture this semester heymann a recognized expert in soviet economic affairs and policy will examine the soviet pattern of resource allocation and growth rate from the stand point of its contribution to military power in the cur rent strategic contest his presentation is not expected to be narrowly technical or aimed at an audience of specialists hey said that merin studios of philadelphia have been contract ed as yearbook photographers and jahn and oilier chicago for en graving senior pictures for next year's annual will be taken for 10 days beginning this week mercy and bernard are members of pi lambda phi fraternity other appointments announced by the board of publications are rob ert stebbins 61 brown and white photography editor and richard knoeble 61 assistant photography editor david word 60 has been appointed sports editor all other publications appoint ments previously announced were approved by the board both the epitome and the brown and white are two-time winners of the associated collegiate press all american awards in the past three years last pix call senior pictures for the 1959 epitome are now in the process of being taken newly appoited editor dick bernard appealed to all of next year's seniors to sign up for their picture as soon as possible if they have not al ready done so arrangements may be made in mrs moravec's office those who do not sign up within the next week will not have their pictures included in the yearbook town council's proposed appeal letter to parents is absurd in the form reported to the brown and white last friday tc president wil liam glose charged the letter released by secre tary robert noll was an un authorized revised draft accord ing to glose no letter will be mailed because tc officers learned last thursday at a meeting with administration of ficials that all their pleas for ade quate facilities had been granted by the university some time ago last year the university set up a university center advisory com mittee to deal specifically with re quests of the three living groups tc rhc ifc glose had no knowldege of the committee until students challenged to
